How Duke Research Seeks to Make Its Impact
At a recent summit on Duke's campus, Vice President for Research & Innovation Jennifer Lodge emphasized Duke's pivotal role in advancing scientific achievements. In 2024, Duke researchers received more than $1.33 billion in external funding, with $863 million from federal sponsors, and achieved notable advancements, including 92 patents and $82.6 million in licensing revenue. Duke also received recognition for its interdisciplinary research, ranking 5th globally in Times Higher Education’s Interdisciplinary Science Rankings. Noteworthy outcomes from its research include the FDA-approved brain cancer therapy Voranigo and the development of seven drugs rooted in Duke intellectual property since 2006.
