Conference champions

The UTA volleyball team won the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) volleyball championship, marking the first conference championship since 2002 and the first WAC championship in program history. A 3-2 victory over the Grand Canyon Lopes on Saturday earned the Mavericks a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Mavericks will find out where and when they play in the NCAA Tournament during the official selection show Sunday, Dec. 1, airing on ESPN at 5 p.m.

Top university for veterans 

UTA was named Texas’ top public university for military service members and veterans and No. 5 across all American universities, according to the 2024 Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges list. Military Times has ranked UTA as a top five institution for the past five years for its support and commitment to military-connected students.

Recognition for innovation, economic prosperity

The Association of Public and Land Grant Universities named UTA an Innovation and Economic Prosperity designee. UTA was one of just 88 higher education institutions in the United States and Canada to receive this identification.

Thanksgiving dinner 2023

Thanksgiving Dinner

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to the annual Thanksgiving Dinner tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 26, 5-8 p.m. at the Connection Cafe. One meal plan swipe can be used to enter. Those without a meal plan will pay $10.89 (plus tax) at the door. If you would like to pay for your staff or students' dinners, email your department's cost center number and a list of your staff/students' full names and Mav ID numbers to globalengagement@uta.edu.

Library hours during finals week

UTA Libraries will offer extended hours Dec. 2-11 to accommodate students during finals week. The library will be open:

  • Dec. 2, 7 a.m.-4 a.m.
  • Dec. 3, 7 a.m. begins 24-hour service
  • Dec. 4-10, open 24 hours
  • Dec. 11, end 24-hour service at 11 p.m. 
World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day

Join the Office of Health Promotion in bringing awareness to World AIDS Day Monday, Dec. 2, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Library Mall. There will be free HIV testing, free food, and free T-shirts.

Student Solutions Hub

The Division of Enrollment Management is hosting the Student Solutions Hub Saturday, Dec. 7, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the University Administration Building. New and continuing students can visit this one-stop shop to take care of tasks like advising and class registration before the beginning of the spring semester.

 

Remind students that they can log in to MyUTA to find their advisor, holds, and registration start date.

Finals Cookie Giveaway Volunteers Needed

Join the Event Operations and Campus Services team in wishing students good luck on their finals by passing out freshly baked cookies, coffee, and hot cocoa. Volunteer to help pass out cookies at the giveaway, set for Monday, Dec. 2, and Tuesday, Dec. 3, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the University Center and the Commons.

Research Enhancement Program taking applications

Proposals for the Research Enhancement Program (REP) must be submitted by Friday, Dec. 6, for consideration. REP grants provide faculty with seed grants to launch new initiatives, serving as a foundation for future research and funding from external sources.
