NOTE: The Prayer Warrior currently is mailed to approximately 486 people who have communicated to the Alumni Office that they wish to pray for Sterling College. We are expanding this prayer ministry to the entire Warrior Family: current campus community, alumni - both graduates and former students, and friends. October 1 Pray that the Lord will bring the right people at the right time to fill the vacant positions on campus.
2 Pray for all those involved in planning and organizing Homecoming that will take place later this month.
3 The first Friday of November will be the Founders Day of Giving for Sterling College. A $200,000 matching challenge has been secured for this special event. Thank God for the generous donors that have made this giving challenge possible and ask Him to move in the hearts of hundreds of alumni and friends to help fulfill the matching challenge.
4 Pray for head football coach Reggie Langford '15. The Warriors take on the Bethel Threshers in North Newton today.
5 Scripture focus: Romans 5:3-4 "Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."
6 Pray for our students taking classes online. Many of these students are balancing full lives of work, families, and classes. Ask the Lord to give them peace and wisdom in the midst of their busy schedules.
7 Pray for our international students. Many are unable to return home at all during the school year. Ask the Lord to comfort any homesickness and strengthen their resolve to work hard in their classes and to connect deeply on campus and in the Sterling community.
8 Pray for President Scott Rich. A heavy load is on his shoulders. Ask the Lord to bless President Rich in many significant ways.
9 Pray for all of our student-athletes and coaches who travel throughout the year for competition.
10 Today is Fall Breather for our students. There will be no classes. Pray for safe travel and ample rest for all.
11 Several unexpected and significant expenses have hit the college in the past few months. Please pray for God's provision.
12 Scripture focus: I John 2:1 "My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One."
13 Pray for all who will be traveling to Sterling College for Homecoming this week.
14 The Warrior men's golf team competes in the Pioneer Prairie Classic at Terradyne Golf Course in Andover, KS today. Pray for safe travel and that our student- athletes and coaches represent SC well and honor the Lord.
15 Pray for the Fields of Faith event held this evening at Smisor Stadium. The speaker is Mandrae Collins, class of 2006. Pray that the Lord will speak clearly through Mandrae.
16 SC Theater has their final dress rehearsal this evening in preparation for the Homecoming musical, Bye Bye Birdie. Ask the Lord to richly bless the cast a crew.
17 The Reunion Banquet for the classes of 1975, 1985, 1995, 2005, and 2015 is this evening. Ask the Lord to be present at the banquet and to bless the reunion classes with a strong sense of connection.
18 Today is the busiest day of Homecoming. Pray that the Lord will bless all who attend and take part in the many activities.
19 Scripture focus: Philippians 2:3-4 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."
20 Ask the Lord to bless the people who are recuperating from planning and facilitating a busy Homecoming weekend.
21 Today is the birthday of Ty Herrington, Board of Trustee member and member of the class of 1986. Ask the Lord to richly bless Ty.
22 Pray for Michelle Hall '82. Michelle serves as Chief Financial Officer for SC. She works extensive hours and always has a very full plate of responsibilities in front of her. Ask the Lord to deeply and richly bless Michelle.
23 Pray for Dr. Gentry Sutton '98, as he is inaugurated as president of Warner University in Lake Wales, FL. Sterling College is proud of this outstanding alumnus.
24 Ask the Lord to raise up many new donors who value Christian higher education and desire to help move the work and mission of Sterling College forward.
25 Today is the birthday of Dwight Nichols '80, member of the Board of Trustees. Pray that Dwight's birthday will be filled with great joy.
26 Scripture focus: I John 4:16 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
27 Lift before the Lord our students who are seeking direction in their lives as to what academic major they should commit to. Ask the Lord to give them wise discernment in this process.
28 Pray for our country today. Pray for national, state, and local elected officials.
29 Pray that all our students who attend chapel today will have open hearts and minds to the chapel message.
30 Today is the birthday of SC's Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Randy Henry's '72. Pray that God would bless Randy in a very special way.
31 Ask the Lord to richly bless the efforts and results of all those recruiting students.
