UAH’s new Air Force ROTC operating location takes off with 30 cadets |
In August, UAH announced the official activation of its Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) operating location — the first Air Force or Space Force ROTC program of its kind in the U.S. Available to freshmen and sophomores, the program will allow scholarship and non-scholarship cadets to live as regular college students while pursuing their degrees. Once they graduate, they will be commissioned in the U.S. Air Force or U.S. Space Force.

UAH welcomes 25 new faculty members to Charger community |
As the 2024-2025 academic year begins, UAH welcomed 25 new faculty members who joined the Charger community in 2024.“We are thrilled to welcome these outstanding new faculty members to the UAH community,” said Dr. David A. Puleo, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. “Their impact will resonate within our university and extend to the broader community and beyond.”

UAH is home to 15 different chapters of fraternities and sororities, each encouraging leadership development, academic achievement and service for others. “I’m surrounded by people who want to see me succeed and push me to succeed. There’s a lot of positivity and encouragement for going out and bettering yourself,” says Torri Walker of Kappa Delta.

UAH researcher wins NASA FINESST scholarship to study connection between solar wind turbulence and energetic particles
|
Ashok Silwal, a graduate research assistant of Space Science, has received a NASA Future Investigators in NASA Earth and Space Science and Technology (FINESST) scholarship to study stream interaction regions (SIRs) in the heliosphere. SIRs accelerate energetic particles, impacting the interaction between the solar wind and the Earth’s magnetosphere, a fundamental mystery in heliophysics.

UAH’s popular concert series begins its 11th season with guest pianist Joseph Fleetwood, then hosts the Three Reeds Duo. Charger Friends and Charger Sounds, two new series, expand the focus to highlight more faculty talent plus student ensembles.
