Dear Haverford Community,
As you read in her recent message, President Raymond has informed the Board of Managers of her decision to retire in June 2027. On behalf of the Board, I would like to share our heartfelt thanks to Wendy for her years of dedicated service to Haverford. She has guided the College with great care during periods of both remarkable growth and significant challenge.
Wendy’s commitment to Haverford’s mission—and the people who embody it—has left a lasting impact. As she noted, the College is strong and well positioned for the future. During her tenure, Haverford has welcomed two of its largest incoming classes, increased support for student resources, access, and engagement, and continued to graduate students who use their liberal arts education to effect positive change in the world. The College has also experienced notable academic growth, including expansion of the neuroscience program, entrepreneurship initiatives, summer experiences for all, and the launch of the Kim Institute for Ethical Inquiry and Leadership. I share Wendy’s enthusiasm that the College’s deepened focus on ethics—one of our defining educational priorities—will help shape and propel the institution forward for generations to come.
Wendy has also overseen the development and early implementation of Haverford 2030, our strategic plan. I highlight this effort because the plan is designed to guide the College across multiple presidencies and serves, in part, as a foundation for the comprehensive philanthropic campaign ahead.
With Wendy’s notice, we plan to conduct a deliberate and inclusive search for Haverford’s 17th president. The Board will soon be forming a search committee. Early next year, the search committee will launch a national search. This will include a series of listening sessions to gather community input on the qualities and experience we seek in our next leader. The Board will share updates as this work progresses.
In the meantime, I hope you will join me in expressing appreciation to Wendy for her tireless dedication and steadfast leadership. I look forward to continuing our partnership in the months ahead as we work toward sustaining Haverford’s excellence and ensuring a smooth and successful transition.
