Division of Student Affairs
Dear Faculty Colleagues,

You are often among the first to recognize when a student may be navigating personal or academic challenges. Through your ongoing interactions — whether in the classroom, during office hours or through mentorship — you may observe shifts in a student’s demeanor, engagement or behavior. In some cases, students may seek your guidance directly.

To support you, the Division of Student Affairs offers resources for addressing mental health, emergencies, conduct and other concerns.

The Counselors in Academic Residence (CARE) Program — part of our Counseling and Mental Health Center — provides direct support for students with dedicated staff members embedded in every college and school. Read more about the program and find your CARE counselor here.

Texas Well-being provides guidance and strategies to help faculty and staff members make small shifts in and out of the classroom that can lead to major differences in students’ mental health and well-being.

TimelyCare is a virtual mental health and well-being platform that is free for currently enrolled students. TimelyCare offers 24/7 on-demand emotional support, scheduled counseling, health coaching and more, available in 240 languages. Students also received a message on Sept. 11 with these mental health resources.

Student Outreach and Support, formerly Student Emergency Services, helps students during difficult and/or emergency situations. The team assists with class absence notifications, operates the Student Emergency Fund and leads the behavioral intervention team for campus. Call 512-471-5017 or send an email.

The Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) serves as the primary resource to report issues or concerns about any member of the University community. Team members partner with college liaisons to assist in responding quickly. Contact BCAL via phone at 512-232-5050 (available 24/7) or online.

UT Outpost serves all students as a free on-campus food pantry and professional clothing closet.

Student Conduct and Academic Integrity administers the student conduct process for potential policy violations. Faculty resources include pathways to resolve academic misconduct and a flowchart for responding to classroom disruption.

Disability and Access works with instructors to ensure students with disabilities have equal access to information, materials and experiences in class. The team provides guidance on creating an accessible classroom for all and applying students’ specific accommodations in your class.

Longhorn TIES (Transition, Illuminate, Empower, Succeed) provides training and self-advocacy support for neurodivergent students, including those with ADHD and autism.

We encourage you to familiarize yourself with these resources and reach out when needed — these teams are here to support your efforts in fostering student well-being.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our students and to the University community. We look forward to a successful academic year ahead.

Sincerely,
JOHN DALTON
