Current Research Seed Grant Opportunities |
The Research Development Office is continuing its support of Reserach Excellence through the Research Seed Grant program. There are three Core Grant Programs: Spark Funding Grant, Ignite Grant, and the Transcend Initiative Grant. In addition to these grants, RDO is partnering with other Here and Next units to run other exciting seed funding opportunities with interdisciplinary, university-wide initiatives.

Transcend Initiative Grant |
|
|
Transcend Initiative Grants support efforts to coordinate research across campus and the STL community by capitalizing upon and expanding WashU research strenghths. These grants build infrastructure in preparation for large, competitive external funding.

| - Up to $150,000 per year for up to 3 years

- Full proposals (by invitation) will be reviewed quarterly throughout the year

Ignite Interdisciplinary Grant |
|
|
Supports new, innovative research on problems that require novel interdisciplinary collaborations with the potential for increased funding.
|
| - Up to $50,000 for one year

Spring Deadline: February 14 at 11:59 p.m.

|
Spark Funding Grants support team development over short periods of time.
The Proposal Development Track supports teams with proposal development costs as they apply for large complex external funding proposal submissions.
The Convening Track allows developing/nascent teams to convene in order to develop future research pathways.

| - Up to $20,000 for 9 months for both tracks

Proposal Development Track: Teams must submit proposal by the end of award period
- Convening Track: Teams must submit a deliverable at the end of the award period, such as a white paper, funding map, etc.

Geospatial Research Seed Grants in collaboration with the Geospatial Research Initiative |
|
|
In collaboration with the Geospatial Research Initiative are pleased to announce the 2025 Geospatial Research Seed Grants. This grant supports interdisciplinary teams collaborating on innovative geospatial research that has the potential for broad scientific or societal impact.

AI for Health in collaboration with the AI for Health Institute |
|
|
In collaboration with the AI for Health Institute, this seed grant program supports innovative and interdisciplinary research that leverages AI to address critical issues in health.

Informational Webinars for Applicants |
There will be two informational webinars in January for prospective applicants to the Core programs. We will cover each program's goals and aims, the application process, and give applicants a chance to ask questions.
