Women of Wellspring BLT Book Club - July 18 |
BLT is a Women of Wellspring (United Women In Faith) small group of "WOMEN" that meets monthly reading and discussing group selected books of interest. We meet every third Thursday at 6:30 in the upstairs Chapel of the church and by zoom for those not able to attend in person. BLT normally takes 3-4 months to discuss a book and then dedicates a month to share a fellowship dinner. BLT stands for Bible Led Teaching Bringing Ladies Together. Beginning this month we will be reading Confronting Injustice without Compromising Truth by Thaddeus J. Williams. We will be discussing the "Part 1: Jehovah or Jezebel? Three Questions about Social Justice and Worship" when we meet on July 18. This would be a great small group if you are looking for a women's fellowship/study group and enjoy reading; or even if you do not like to read but enjoy Bible based discussions in your spiritual journey. Please join us as we look at injustice and share the truth of Jesus Christ in our lives. For more information contact Linda Miles (mileslm75@gmail.com) or Cathy Wyman (csnwyman@wymanusa.org)

SAVE The DATE
First United Methodist Church (FUMC) will join with Wellspring United Methodist Church to present a Nativity Open House for the Georgetown Community during Advent in the McKinney Center of FUMC.
The Open House will occur December 6th and 7th, 2024.
Depictions of the Nativity of Christ proclaim the unique witness of a God who is fully embodied in our world. The many ways the Nativity of Jesus is portrayed by people from multiple cultures and nations tells us that Jesus came for everyone and that people the world over are able to relate very personally to the nativity of God’s Son. This is a wonderful way to enter the Advent Season and reflect on God’s gift to ALL His people.
Please consider the gifts and talents YOU can lend to this event. We will need volunteers who can assist in everything from serving on a planning committee, staging the displays, getting the word out, helping with set up and clean up, as well as hospitality during the event. We especially welcome the loan of your special Nativity set(s).
More information will be forthcoming. In the interim if you are willing to assist with the planning committee, please contact Janice Wallace at jwnoel19@yahoo.com.

Scripture Passages: 1 Samuel 8:1, 4-18; John 6:14-20
God does not intend a theocracy in America or anywhere, but intends for us to be in solidarity. And solidarity is about justice and shalom living side by side while we remember that Christ is our source of hope and not human institutions.

When we consider everything going wrong in our world, is there any wonder we are living with a sense of doom? This study will help us face the realities that confront us and then to give us tools to live with resilience, determination, and faith.
