Welcome to Hornet Weekly! We have exciting updates for year two
Hornet Weekly, Sac State’s bulletin for students, is back! We thank all our returning students who made Hornet Weekly’s inaugural year successful! For first-year students, we’re happy to provide you with news, announcements, resources, events and more. For year two, we will continue sending our email newsletter, but we’ll soon also display Hornet Weekly in the MySacState student portal and on a dedicated webpage so you can read the bulletin at your convenience, on your choice of platform.

New major! BS in Therapeutic Health and Recreation
The BS in Therapeutic Health and Recreation prepares students for careers in rehabilitation focused on improving quality of life through therapeutic practices. Students will develop skills in assessment, documentation, leadership, and evidence-based practice that support physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Pursue careers in healthcare, recreation therapy, mental health, counseling, or community programs. To declare, visit the HHS Student Success Center, Solano 3000.

New major! Bacherlor of Art in Sport and Recreation Management
The BA in Sport and Recreation Management prepares students to work in a wide range of fields that serve the public, impact the ever-evolving business of sport and recreation, protect our natural, cultural and heritage resources, and support a healthy quality of life. Some career fields that students may be interested in pursuing include: collegiate athletic directors, park law enforcement, recreation center directors, and many more! Expanding Financial Wellness support for Sac State students
Financial Wellness is now part of Student Health, Counseling & Wellness Services and will be available at The WELL beginning on September 14. Get individualized help with budgeting, credit, debt, savings, financial goals, banking decisions, unexpected expenses and planning for life after graduation. You do not need to be in financial crisis to make an appointment. Schedule your Financial Wellness appointment through your Patient Portal.

Join us for Illuminate the Hive: Lantern Festival & Pop-Up Market
You are invited to join Illuminate the Hive: Lantern Festival & Pop-Up Market on Monday, Sept. 21, from 6-10 p.m. at the Acorn Amphitheater (Main Quad). Friends of the University Library Book Bin open this week
The Friends of the University Library are excited to welcome you back to campus and invite you to browse the Book Bin. Join us this Wednesday, Sept. 2, and Thursday, Sept. 3, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the lower level of the library. Gently used hardback and paperback books are $2 each or three for $5. The collection also includes artwork, music scores, audio recordings, and a large selection of children’s books. Cash or checks only. All proceeds directly support the University Library.

It’s not too late to audition for choir!
Auditions may have passed and classes have started, but it’s not too late to join a Sacramento State choir! No prepared solo is required. Our ensembles welcome students of all majors and offer the chance to make great music, build community and perform throughout the year. This season also includes an opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in May 2027. To learn more or schedule an audition, contact Dr. Brett Judson, director of choral activities.

Students planning to advance in Spring 2027 or Summer 2027 (CCE programs only) must submit their Advancement to Candidacy Form to the Office of Graduate Studies by October 1, 2026. Access the Advancement to Candidacy Form. Students must be Fully Classified prior to submission. If you were admitted as Conditionally Classified and have satisfied your conditions, then submit the Classification Application Form by October 1, 2026. Access the Classification Application Form.

Fall Outdoor Adventure trips are live and ready for you to sign up. Students get discounted pricing, but the general public are able to sign up at full price. There are over 40 trips this semester of varying activity levels and free clinics to attend as well.
