French Spoken in Toronto! |
Salon du Livre - The Toronto French Book Fair is being held from March 3 – 5 at the new French university, UOF, l’Université de l’Ontario français (9 Lower Jarvis Street). Entrance is free. Activities for families are on Saturday, starting at 9:30 am. Details here.

Ciné Franco 2023 – the Toronto French film festival is offering family friendly films from March 10 – 12 at Cineplex Empress Walk (5095 Yonge Street). Information here.

The Toronto Public Library is offering French performances during March break at locations across the city. Monsieur Philippe and Thomas le Troubadour will be doing music and movement for ages 3-7. Le Théâtre français de Toronto is performing voyageur stories for ages 6-12. On Saturday, March 18, there is an online immersive experience with Touralingo (registration is required). Celebrate Canadian Film Day - April 19 |

Attn: Grade 10 & 11 Students |
The French for the Future National Ambassador Youth Forum (FNJA) will take place in Halifax from August 13-18, 2023. This annual program is free and is open to Core and French Immersion grade 10 and 11 students. The selected student ambassadors’ mission is to promote the French language and official bilingualism in their schools throughout the year following the FNJA. Applications are being accepted from April 3 to May 5, 2023. Information here.

International Student Exchanges (ISE) - applications are open until April for individual students currently in grade 9 or 10 for reciprocal international exchanges with students from Europe in the 2023-24 school year. French opportunities are in France and Switzerland. TDSB students host the students from Europe in the fall and then travel to Europe in the winter. It is possible to earn secondary credits for photography and grade 10 French during the exchange. To apply, students require a recommendation from their Principal. Bursaries may be available. Experiences Canada – offers reciprocal group exchanges for 7-10 days for youth, ages 12-17, in different parts of Canada. Travel expenses are paid for by Experiences Canada. Details on in person and virtual programs are here.
Summer Work Student Exchange – this YMCA program is for students 16 and 17 years old and provides the opportunity for individuals to travel to a community in Canada to live and work in their second official language. Applications are open and the program runs from July 1 to August 12, 2023. The programs covers the cost of travel and some activities. Information is here.

Free Virtual French Fun: New Sessions Coming Soon |
Look for an announcement soon for registration for the next series of FREE virtual French programs from Canadian Parents for French Ontario. Programs are suitable for students in grades 1-8 and will have 2 week sessions from May 8 – August 25. Information will be posted here soon.

TDSB information on tutoring supports is here.
Mathify provides free math tutoring for students in grades 4-12. Tutors are Ontario certified teachers. The service is available weekdays from 9 am to 9 pm and weekends from 3 pm to 9 pm. Mathify is part of TVO, our Ontario publicly funded broadcaster. Information is here.
The Ministry of Education and TDSB offer free online tutoring for French through Paper.
