Empowering Ourselves for Caregiving and Care Receiving
Plan now to join us on Saturday,
September 14 – 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. |
Rosalyn Carter once said, “There are only four kinds of people in the world: those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers and those who will need caregivers.” Caregiving is a life responsibility that the majority of us will be called upon to fulfill, yet there is very little opportunity for preparing for this role or to learn how to physically and emotionally cope with this time in our lives in healthy ways. Our workshop will focus on resources available for caregiving, as well as preparing for the psychological stress of caregiving, and for the time that we will need care from others. Please plan to join us for this important workshop.

The Open Circle Sunday School Class is starting a new study this week, Sept 1. “The After Party: Toward Better Christian Politics," by Curtis Chang, Nancy French, David French, & Russell Moore. This 6 week video-based class promotes a Christ centered political identity amidst the current toxic polarization. This study focuses on the “how” of engagement through the example of Jesus Christ instead of the “what” of specific parties, policies, or politicians. An “Us vs. Them” mentality opposes the “mind of Christ” that is rooted in the truth that Christ has created only an “Us” gathered around the cross. Class meets at 10:00 in the church office suite.

“Witness from the Well”
Scripture Passages: John 4:7-26
As we look at Jesus' ministry, we notice He spent a lot of time with women with complicated stories. He made room for them. He held up a mirror for them to see who they truly were, not what society said about them.
In the case of the woman at the well, she became an evangelist and a witness to Jesus’ radically inclusive ministry.
