Two actors, a man and a woman, rehearse on a stage that has a colorful mural with many faces painted in purple as a backdrop. Two student stage managers stand in front of the stage, talking with the directors, a woman and a man who are seated facing the stage with their backs to the camera. The directors are wearing jackets.
A new collaboration between IUP Theater-by-the-Grove and Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre Company brings the play Nine Days in the Sun by Mark Clayton Southers to Waller Hall, Thursday through Sunday. The play explores a world in which dark skin is the desired tone, so the racial balance is shifted, and the social order in America is turned upside down.
