Spring Break Hours at Smith

Smith will be PSU ID access only from March 22-30, 2023, during the break between winter and spring terms. Campus building hours are expected to remain 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. those days and Smith will be open to active ID holders as well.
  • The University Market, child care services on the ground floor and Smith food services, including Bowery Bagels, will be closed during the week.
  • The Viking Gameroom will be open for reservations only.
  • During certain scheduled events, the Broadway doors will be open for event attendees.
  • Check with resource operations and cultural centers for their individual break plans.
  • There will be no general public hours during the break due to limited staffing and the closure of public amenities.
Those PSU professional staff members who have 24/7 campus access and student staff with extended access will have that level of access during the break. Someone on your staff need an access update? Contact Smith venue manager Mercedes Youngston for assistance.
Get Creative With Your WRC Peers

Students are invited to come by the Women’s Resource Center, Smith 439, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9, to unwind and do some crafting with the Peer Mentorship Project.

Choose from a variety of activities, enjoy snacks and refreshments, and let creativity shine while engaging with the WRC’s peer support space. Sign up today to receive an event reminder.

The WRC’s Peer Mentorship Project aims to facilitate social, personal, and professional growth for all students through one-on-one support, group community building, workshops, and events geared toward college success.

Visit the Versa Cafe in Viking Pavilion

Bashas Mediterranean Cuisine — the folks who have been serving Portland State for more than 45 years — are now operating the Versa Cafe on the ground floor of the Viking Pavilion.

Maggie and her crew are serving fresh food, hot coffee, boba tea, pastries and much more. Try the breakfast burrito and order items your way! Vegan, halal, gluten-free options available. Versa accepts PSU Eats dining dollars.

Enter Viking Pavilion at the lower-level student entrance across from the library and let your nose lead you the rest of the way. The cafe is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

Snow falls on the Eurydice fountain in the Park Blocks during last month's storm.
Lights along the Walk of Heroines in front of Hoffmann Hall brighten the evening snowfall. Benches covered in wet snow sit empty.
Early morning a few days after the storm, patches of melting snow line Broadway in front of Smith.
Remember that week it snowed? Before it fades from your memories, here are a few photos from during and just after the February snowfall that shut down the campus (and Smith) for two days. Thank you all for your patience with the work disruptions caused by the sudden building closures.
You can find more storm photos on the Smith union Instagram feed.
University Market: Open in Smith

The University Market has what you crave at its convenient campus location on the ground floor of Smith. Come by for snacks, sodas and class supplies as well as PSU T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and gear. Open 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, until 5 p.m. Fridays, in Smith 105.
