Fair Housing and Houselessness
Thursday, March 28 // 10 a.m. - noon
In this training, attendees will learn the basics of fair housing and how it intersects with issues related to houselessness. Topics will cover housing production, NYMBY-ism, rural vs metro houselessness, and how fair housing plays a role in addressing barriers in the application process and in eviction prevention.

Fair Housing Basics
Wednesday, May 29 // 10 a.m. - noon
This training will cover basic concepts of Fair Housing, such as protected classes, red flags of discrimination, and disparate impact. We will also discuss protections for people with disabilities, including how to write Reasonable Accommodation and Modification Requests.
|
Fair Housing for Medical and Mental Health Providers
Thursday, July 18 // 1 - 3 p.m.
Providers are often asked to write letters for their patients related to disability and housing. However, many providers are hesitant to write these letters because they don't understand their role in this process or the laws that pertain to the process. This training will help you understand how to best support your clients and the important role you play in helping them with equal access and enjoyment to their housing.
Join us for a two-hour Zoom session where we will review:
|
- Fair Housing Law as it applies to disability
-
Writing letters of support for assistance animals and other disability accommodations
- FAQs like liability and types of allowable accommodations

Fair Housing for Aging Populations
Tuesday, September 10 //10 a.m. - noon
The first half of this training will cover the housing crisis for older adults, how fair housing law can support aging in place, and the reasonable accommodation and modification process as it can be used to support older adults.
The second half of the presentation will be facilitated by AARP. AARP surveys consistently find that older adults want to remain in their current homes and communities for as long as possible. Yet barely one percent of the nation’s housing supply contains any “universal design” elements — such as single story living or a sink that can be reached from a wheelchair. That’s where AARP HomeFit comes in. Based on the free AARP HomeFit Guide, this presentation can help individuals and families make their current or future residence — or that of a loved one — their “lifelong home.”

Moving Forward with a Past
Tuesday, October 29 // 10 a.m. - noon
This training will provide information for people with a criminal past with understanding their rights as provided under fair housing law. This will cover basic fair housing, reasonable accommodation, letters of explanation, disparate impact topics, and how to advocate for oneself. This training can also be beneficial for advocates who are assisting folks who have a criminal past.
