| Dear colleagues,
Despite last weekend’s weather delays, campus spirit was high, capped by a thrilling victory in the first home game of the year. I am confident that the same energy will carry into the weeks ahead, with opportunities for scholarship, conversation, and community.

Here are the top “5 Things to Know” this week:
|
-
You are invited to join a two-day Faculty Media Workshop series designed to amplify your voice and extend the reach of your scholarship. Developed by the W&M Law School and Raymond A. Mason School of Business communications teams in partnership with the RW Jones agency, this is an excellent opportunity to hone your approach to media engagement. Please RSVP by this Friday, September 13.
-
The 2025 W&M Women’s Weekend will be held on campus September 12-14, supported by the 650-plus members of the Society of 1918. All members of the W&M community are welcome to take part, and you can use discount code WWFacStaff if you choose to attend the entire weekend. I am looking forward to moderating a panel discussion with deans and academic leaders from across all of the schools. The Massey Cancer Center mobile health van will also be at the Alumni House drive from 12pm-5pm on Saturday, where the community can learn more about cancer prevention, education, and how to connect with screening services. Mary Talks (TedX-style talks) are open to everyone to attend on Sunday morning. You can review the full event schedule online.
- William & Mary Family Weekend will take place October 3-5. If you would like to welcome Family Weekend visitors to your Friday classes, please take a moment to complete this form by Wednesday, September 24.
-
The Counseling Center offers presentations on mental health topics to boost well-being, encourage help-seeking, and build resilience within our campus community. Complete the request form to schedule an outreach program in your classroom.

This week’s shoutout goes to our W&M Human Resources team for their essential work on behalf of every member of the W&M community. There is never a slow time in HR, but the beginning of a semester always brings a flurry of activity. I am grateful for their care and diligence. If you did not have a chance to read last week’s news story about future W&M Chief Human Resources Officer Anne Roemer, I encourage you to take a look and learn more about W&M’s newest leader.

Finally, remember to keep an eye on event parking reminders throughout the semester. Next week, the Boswell Parking lot will be used for campus guests on September 15 and 16. If you need alternate parking, please use the lower level of the Parking Deck.
