Teach “Head in a Prop” for Performance or Care Behaviors
The “Head in a Prop” behavior requires the dog to place his/her head in a prop or piece of equipment and remain there for duration. In this video, Michele Pouliot demonstrates the beginning steps of the behavior using rewards strategically to encourage stillness and duration. These same training steps can be used to train care behaviors, such as introducing muzzles.

CTP of the Month: Sarah Stoycos
“In my work with dogs and people, the focus is on teaching desired behaviors rather than resorting to punitive measures. I now define myself by what I support rather than what I oppose. In today's culture, which often emphasizes negativity, I strive to redirect my focus toward contributing to positive change in any way I can.” Read more from our CTP of the Month, Sarah Stoycos.
