Dear Colleagues,
On June 15, the Hesburgh Libraries will launch FiNDit, a new search platform for the library catalog that will replace the current platform, which is nearly 20 years old and is being retired by the vendor.
While this is a technology upgrade we cannot avoid, we do believe that the new system will enable greater flexibility to meet your evolving needs for teaching, learning, and research in a rapidly changing information landscape.
FiNDit will replace our existing collection of search tools (OneSearch, ND Catalog, Catalog Classic) with a single search interface that makes it easier to search, browse, and access the full range of our library resources in one place. At the same time, it will provide an easier path to conducting narrow or advanced searches when you already know the author, title, or material type you are looking for.

While our technical teams are making every effort to minimize disruptions to online and in-person services during the new system launch, there will be some service interruptions at the Hesburgh Library and branch libraries in late May and the first half of June. Here are some key dates to know and critical actions you may need to take.

Export Your Favorites by May 30 |
Many users have saved "Favorites” in the current system; this facility allows users to save individual records, searches, and their search history.
We are not able to migrate your saved Favorites to the new system — primarily because, for privacy reasons, only you have access to your saved records. If you want to save your Favorites, you will need to export them before May 30. After the June 15 launch, you can add these to your new FiNDit account and save new records if desired.

Service Availability and Disruptions |

The following guidance is for the Hesburgh Library, the Architecture Library, the Mahaffey Business Library, and the Music Library. Electronic resources, electronic reserves, book scanners, and Interlibrary Loan borrowing will be available without interruption throughout this time.

Requests for the purchase of both physical and electronic materials may be submitted as usual (via our online Recommend a Purchase form or a request to your subject librarian) and will be fulfilled as usual. If you have time-sensitive requests for summer teaching or research, make sure to submit these by May 15. After May 15, expect delays in processing acquisition requests.
