Transforming Community Health and Social Connections in Rural Areas of the US

A five-year effort led by Dolores Albarracín has worked to combat the spread of HIV and hepatitis C on the frontlines of the substance use and methamphetamine crisis, primarily in Appalachia and the rural Midwest. The work included online meetings, a private social platform, and free Narcan and testing kits on request. “This multifaceted intervention is likely to bring together the psychology of self-regulations, the science of norms and communication processes,” said Albarracín.
