GW students to join hundreds of Gen Z advocates on Capitol Hill to fight for food security |
On July 14th and 15th, 14 GW students (some in our Food Leadership Minor!) will attend the Gen Z Hunger Summit, hosted by the Congressional Hunger Center with support from GFI.
Over 100 Gen Zers will come to Washington, D.C., for in-depth training on food security policy and advocacy. They’ll learn directly from policy experts, current and former Congressional staffers, and advocates across the food system. On advocacy day, ambassadors take what they learned to the Hill to advocate for their selected piece of legislation.
Follow us on Instagram – we’ll be posting updates directly from the Summit and will share our ambassadors’ stories.

Congratulations to GFI's Charlie Basa, who will be joining the 33rd class of Emerson Hunger Fellows with the Congressional Hunger Center!
The Emerson Fellows program honors Bill Emerson, a Congressional leader who advocated for anti-hunger legislation like The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). As a fellow, Charlie will continue on the work of advocates like Emerson and gain skills to continue his advocacy in food systems.
