Dear Eagle Nation:
We have added more than 450 Eagles to the ranks of Coppin State University alumni, and celebrated them with a beautiful commencement ceremony on Friday, May 19, 2023.

Coppin State awarded baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees in a wide range of disciplines, including criminal justice, nursing, social work, accounting, marketing, health information management, and nonprofit leadership. Degree completion of this magnitude is a testimate to the hard work and expertise of our faculty, who are dedicated to equiping our students with the tools and knowledge needed to reach this milestone.
Governor Wes Moore delivers his keynote speech during the 2023 Spring Commencement ceremony, May 19, 2023
We were honored to have Governor Wes Moore deliver the keynote address, his first commencement speech in office. In his speech, “The Strength to Serve,” Governor Moore challenged our graduates to continue in the tradition of service ingrained in them during their time here at Coppin.

Three of our newest alumni have chosen to make service a cornerstone of their lives and their careers, by commissioning as officers in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves.
I am proud of their commitment and willingness to take what they have learned here at Coppin and use it in service to their country. I know that their fellow graduates will also use what they’ve learned, who they are, and the skills they cultivated to make the world better.

I was also pleased to see 60 esteemed alumni join us who have continued supporting Coppin for more than five and six decades.

Our scholars overcome personal, professional, and academic challenges in pursuit of their education and enrichment. Our faculty and staff remain committed partners in helping them achieve their goals. I could not be prouder of them as they begin their next chapter.
I encourage you to read more about some of our outstanding graduates, who exemplify the grit and resilience of the community of scholars here at Coppin State.
