| On Friday, we will bid farewell to another wonderful school year. We are very grateful for our community's dedication and outstanding accomplishments. Together, we have navigated challenges and celebrated excellence with our shared commitment to growth, partnership, and our OLV community.
Summer, a season of rest and rejuvenation, eagerly awaits us. It's a precious time to unwind, enjoy loved ones, and the beauty of God’s creation, offering a much needed pause before the new school year.
This is the final newsletter for the 2024-2025 school year. It contains many reminders and important updates for the summer and next year. Please take some time to review it carefully and note relevant information.
At the beginning of August, we will send information regarding the first week of school and any other updates for 2025-2026.
Happy Summer!

| CELEBRATING ASIAN AMERICAN PACIFIC ISLANDER HERITAGE MONTH - MAY 2025
During the month of May, OLV commemorated Asian American Pacific Islander Month, an annual celebration honoring the significant achievements and contributions to the United States and the world. Through a series of events and educational initiatives, OLV actively celebrated the rich traditions and contributions within our Catholic community.
Below are some examples of what our students did during this period:
PK3 shared a story about a park bench in Japan and enjoyed the Korean re-telling of Cinderella.
Our K students read a story to learn about honesty from China called The Empty Pot.
Our 1st Graders made carp streamers, which are a symbol of Children's Day in Japan. Colorful windsocks shaped like carp are traditionally flown outside Japanese homes and schools in May to wish children strength, health and success.
Our Middle School students explored the routes of the Silk Road with interactive maps.

| FACULTY UPDATES 2025-2026
Ms. Pearl Hughes has accepted a teaching position at Yoyogi International School in Tokyo, Japan for next fall. Ms. Marcela Escoto has accepted the position of First Grade teacher. Ms. Escoto graduated from Our Lady of Victory and St. John's College High School. After initially pursuing a degree in Nursing at the University of Alabama, Ms. Escoto recognized her gifts in educating young children and decided to transition to an education degree. Ms. Escoto has experience as an ABA therapist working with students with Autism and previously worked as a lead teacher at both St. Alban's Early Childhood Center and Georgetown Day School. Since returning to work at Our Lady of Victory, Ms. Escoto has completed her teaching certification under the mentorship of Ms. Bosma. She is thrilled to assume the responsibility of First Grade teacher at the place that sparked her first love of learning!
Mrs. Jill Kalinski will retire from OLV at the end of the school year to spend more time with her family and enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, where she now lives. Mrs. Virginia Balestrieri has accepted the position of middle school language arts teacher. Mrs. Balestrieri is well known to our community as her son graduated from OLV in 2021. Mrs. Balestrieri has served as a reliable substitute teacher for us over the past few years. She graduated from Duke University Law School and worked as an attorney in the area and as a senior attorney for Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP. "Mrs. B." feels called to the vocation of teaching in a Catholic school, and she looks forward to teaching our middle school students how to write, preparing them for successful high school and college careers.
Ms. Hughes and Mrs. Kaliniski will both be missed, and we wish them all the best for their future endeavors. We are very grateful for their years of service to the OLV community!
