Chemistry professor earns UW Innovation Grant

UW-Whitewater Associate Professor of Chemistry Steven Girard, at left in photo, is one of three recipients of the 2024 Universities of Wisconsin Innovation Grant. Girard plans to work with students and community partners to build technology that would produce better, more cost-effective bioactive glass-silicide coatings for use in biomedicine and aerospace.

Discover internships and full-time job opportunities for students and alumni with more than 130 employers at the spring Warhawk Internship and Career Fair for all majors this Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Williams Center Fieldhouse. International Dinner

Enjoy a variety of international dishes and performances and get to know UW-Whitewater’s international students at the annual International Dinner on Friday, March 7, at 5:30 p.m. in the University Center Hamilton Room. Tickets can be purchased at the Goodhue Hall first-floor desk. Cost is $5 for students and $10 for faculty, staff and other guests.

Get ready to put your sports knowledge to the test at UC Live's Sports Trivia this Thursday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. in the UC Down Under! Form a team of up to four people and compete for a chance to win prizes as you answer questions covering all things sports. The top three teams will take home prizes — you must be an enrolled student to win.

UW-Whitewater's Symphonic Wind Ensemble is slated to perform at Carnegie Hall, the world-famous venue in New York City, on Tuesday, March 11, at 8 p.m.

Kudos to Matt Kiederlen, chief of police, who was appointed to the State of Wisconsin’s 911 Interoperability Committee by the Office of the Governor. Kiederlen’s term expires July 1, 2026.

Special education department recognized

The Department of Special Education, housed in the College of Education and Professional Studies, earned International Dyslexia Association (IDA) Accreditation Plus for its graduate certificate in Dyslexia and Language Based Learning Disabilities in January. It is the only IDA accredited program among the Universities of Wisconsin and the only IDA Accreditation Plus program in Wisconsin.

CoBE earns EFMD membership

The College of Business and Economics was recently named a full member of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), becoming one of just 27 colleges in the U.S. to earn the distinction. EFMD Membership »
