Chemistry professor earns UW Innovation Grant |
UW-Whitewater Associate Professor of Chemistry Steven Girard, at left in photo, is one of three recipients of the 2024 Universities of Wisconsin Innovation Grant. Girard plans to work with students and community partners to build technology that would produce better, more cost-effective bioactive glass-silicide coatings for use in biomedicine and aerospace.

Rosters set for track and field teams

The UW-Whitewater track and field teams started their 2025 indoor season on Jan. 18. The outdoor season starts March 28.

Kudos to Matt Kiederlen, chief of police, who was appointed to the State of Wisconsin’s 911 Interoperability Committee by the Office of the Governor. Kiederlen’s term expires July 1, 2026.

Special education department recognized
|
The Department of Special Education, housed in the College of Education and Professional Studies, earned International Dyslexia Association (IDA) Accreditation Plus for its graduate certificate in Dyslexia and Language Based Learning Disabilities in January. It is the only IDA accredited program among the Universities of Wisconsin and the only IDA Accreditation Plus program in Wisconsin.
