  • The beginning of a new academic year is the perfect time to make sure you're following Maseeh College on social media platforms. 
 
  • Sung Yi (MME) received $120,923 from Oregon Institute of Technology for "Holder Taper Evaluation - Phase 2"
  • Joshua Mendez (ECE) received $47,942 from Oregon State University for "Spatially-Distributed Measurements of Wildfire Plumes Using Instrumented Pico-Balloons"
  • Samantha Hartzell (CEE) received $249,742 from National Science Foundation for "Modeling Impacts of Salt Stress on Coupled Carbon and Water Dynamics in Dryland Critical Zones
  • Suresh Singh (CS) received $595,346 from National Science Foundation for "Small: Design and Measurement of Random Reflectors to Boost Terahertz MIMO Performance"
  • Joshua Mendez (ECE) received $125,888 from Emory University for "Mechanistic Studies of Airborne Microbes"
 
  • Ameeta Agrawal (CS) was just appointed to the Oregon Joint Task Force on Artificial Intelligence. Read more about one of her collaborative AI projects.
 
  • The New Student Welcome is happening September 25th from 10 am to 3 pm. Victor E. Viking will be helping Maseeh Ambassadors and staff welcome our new students. Come stop by the photo booth, high-five PSU's mascot Victor E. Viking, check out the new swag, and potentially pet an animal friend as part of the festivities.
  • URMP Scholar Poster Presentations will be on display during the New Student Welcome, so spend some time in the Engineering Building Atrium from 10 to 11:30 am learning about the research projects at Maseeh.
  • The September Maseeh Any-Staff Meeting is happening on the 18th from 3 to 4 pm in FAB 60-19. There will be a recap of the August retreat and an opportunity to plan for the year ahead. 
  • STEM transfer students are invited to a day of welcoming, resource-sharing, and networking, lead by the Maseeh College and Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP). LSAMP/STEM Transfer Student Day will be September 20th at the Native American Student & Community Center (NASCC) from 10 am to 3 pm.
  • All new and returning Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA) are required to attend the GTA Orientation on September 27th from 8:30 am to 3 pm. Please email your Department Manager if you need the registration link to send your GTAs.
  • ORTOP FIRSTFare, a conference for Oregon FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition teams will be hosted by Maseeh in the Engineering Building on September 21st from 9 am to 3:30 pm. 
  • SEMI Personal Development Seminar is set for October 11th in the Smith Union Ballroom. Local community colleges and industry leaders will be participating as well.

  • Christof Teuscher (ECE) is one of three PSU leads seeking to bridge the gap between academia and industry while promoting diversity in high-tech fields with PSU's new Diverse Internships for Semiconductor Careers (DISC) program.
  • When Christof Teuscher (ECE) isn't helping cement PSU's place on the semiconductor pipeline, he doesn't exactly take it easy.
  • A new academic research collaboration with Johns Hopkins aims to unlock the vast potential of floating offshore wind farms in the US, and the experimental aspects of the project will be led by Raúl Bayoán Cal (MME).

  • Alex Hunt's (MME) Agile and Adaptive Robotics Lab will benefit from a NASA grant to MSIs. 
  • The recent Portland State Aerospace Society (PSAS) launch party was featured on OPB, while Andrew Greenberg (ECE & PSAS) got to watch it live in California. 
  • Nate Rose Program Administrator ECE) got some Green Bay press for his art.
  • Oregon's ASCE Infrastructure Report card was released at an event in Salem this summer. Maseeh alum Ana Tijerina Esquino (CEE) led this huge effort and Maseeh student Kayla Sorenson (CEE) led the Dams section. KOIN, KGW, and KATU covered the event.
