A Veteran Meets Kids at CEEP!

Veteran, Jun-Hyun Cho paid a special visit to the Little Colonials. He shared his experience in the U-S military during Veterans Day week and handed out stickers to the students. He even had the kiddos work on some physical challenges by having them do push-ups!

The Berg Honors Vets!

Eisenberg returned to its tradition of inviting family members of students who served in the military to visit before the Veterans Day holiday. The children enjoyed eating breakfast with their loved ones who were greeted by flag-waving students who cheered them on as they made their way to the auditorium. The veterans were proud to attend a student-led assembly where everyone learned about the meaning of the holiday. The chorus and drumline at the Berg made the Veterans Day Program extra special!

Also at the Berg...

Thank you Sallie Mae for donating 1371 pounds of food to the Eisenberg food pantry! They have donated almost 2000 pounds in the past month!!!

Fun Night was Fun!

Students, family, and staff from McCullough Middle School had a great time at the Main Event Entertainment Center. Family Fun Night is always a blast!

School-Based Wellness Centers are Open

WE are thankful to our community partners for the extra layer of physical and behavioral health services they provide to our students.  Last month, we saw a record-high usage of the School-Based Health Center at our elementary schools.

It is not too late for you to enroll in your school’s center.  Additional information about each center can be found at the links below.  If you have any questions about registration or the services available, please call the center at the phone number below.

GoGuardian Beacon Updates

This school year, Colonial School District is continuing to implement GoGuardian Beacon services as part of our district’s broader suicide prevention program.

GoGuardian Beacon helps to notify counselors and/or other school support staff if the system detects that a child searches, creates, views, or interacts with online content that could be related to suicide or self-harm. Because of this, GoGuardian Beacon helps detect and intervene when a child may be at risk of suicide or self-harm.

It is important to know that neither Colonial nor GoGuardian Beacon can possibly detect every situation when a child is suicidal.

This month, Colonial enabled parental notifications after school hours.  GoGuardian Beacon will notify a parent or guardian after school hours via email to help provide support for an at-risk child.  The notification will include resources for your use if additional support is needed.

If online activity is of a higher risk (such as active planning alert), Colonial will notify parents or guardians at the number associated with the child in the district database.  Please make sure Colonial has the most up-to-date email address and phone number for your child at all times.

SafeDE App

If you have not already so, we encourage families to check out the new Safe DE app – a 24/7 support system for students, families, and school employees.
The Safe DE app empowers every member of our school community to seek assistance whenever they need it. For example:

*Students battling bullying or depression
*Families requiring essentials like food or housing
*School Employees navigating stressful times
*Anyone grappling with personal challenges
What makes the Safe DE app unique is that it’s completely anonymous. It allows users to ask for help while protecting their privacy and dignity.

With the Safe DE app, you can ask for and receive help in three ways:
*Privately connect with local resources
*Anonymously Text with trained counselors
*Request Help directly from your school

We kindly urge parents and guardians to download the Safe DE app, not only to guide your children in how to use the app effectively but also to use the app whenever YOU need support.
Getting Started with Safe DE:

Every Single Day Counts!

As we prepare for the upcoming holiday season, it is important to make note of the days when school is scheduled to be closed by reviewing the school calendar.  These dates are great times to schedule appointments so students don't have to miss additional time.

As long as your child is healthy, please make certain your student shows up to class when school is in session. Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn as well as connect to peers and their teachers.  If your child is ill and going to be out of school for a couple of days, please notify your school nurse.

If your family is struggling and in need of support, please reach out to your school counselor or building administrator.

Thanksgiving Feast at Leach

Leach continued its beloved tradition of inviting families to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal prepared by Colonial's dedicated Nutrition Services Staff. Principal, Dr. Ginny Schreppler (top right) also continued her tradition of donning a costume fitting for the occasion. The meal was served with a smile by School Board President Chris Piecuch along with other administrators and staff.

Gobble, Gobble, it's Turkey Day!

It's one of the most anticipated days of the year. Turkey and all of the fixings were served in every school cafeteria. Everyone is thankful Colonial's Nutrition Services staff continues to prepare the popular holiday meal before the Thanksgiving Break which begins Wednesday, November 22.
