FCS NEWS

Happy New Year, Faith family! We are excited that our God has chosen us to live in 2022! It is easy to see things through the lens of hopelessness when we look at our world, but we endeavor to see it through the eyes of Christ. We are on a mission to fulfill our purpose of ultimately making our Lord known, and there could be little time left. Let's spend this year giving all for the Lord! We continue to emphasize Daniel and his God as our school theme for the 2022 year. The Lord used Daniel and his friends to take a bold stand. Our desire is that God would raise up Daniels, Shadrachs, Meshachs and Abednegos at FCS! We praise the Lord for the way He continues to work in the lives of our student body! Please continue to pray for us each day as we labor to educate and train servant-leaders for the Kingdom of God.
Please take a minute to look at the announcements below as they will affect the coming days.
Our Alumni/Homecoming Night is tonight, January 7, with games at 6 and 7:30 pm. Graduates receive "special treatment" with free items for the evening.
Our Senior Recognition Night will be Friday, January 21, after the ballgames.

COVID Update: Masks are worn on a voluntary basis.
Numerous changes have been made in the Covid guidelines by the CDC and the Randolph County Health Department.  The main changes are as follows:
Quarantine or isolation is now five days as long as there are no symptoms after the fifth day. Students may have to wear a mask upon return until 10 days is over. The mask would have to be worn all the time while at school.
Home tests are now acceptable as long as the test is administered by a parent and the results are reported to the school by the parent. Students testing themselves and students reporting their own results is not acceptable.

Spirit Week: Join the Fun and dress up Tuesday-Friday, January 18-21!
Tuesday - Pajama Day (Please do not wear leggings or shorts. This would be modest, loose-fitting pajama apparel.)
Wednesday - Character Day
Thursday - City vs. Country
Friday - Blue vs. Gold

Seniors and Parents: Each year FCS has to submit a report to the State of North Carolina about immunizations and other information that is required by the state. It was brought to our attention that seniors need the second shot for meningitis by this point in their senior year. This is a new requirement that was waived last year due to Covid. It is possible that your child has aready had the shot. If that is the case, we simply need proof of the shot. If the student has not had the shot, we asked that it be done immediately and proof of the vaccine be sent to the school. This shot is required by most colleges as well. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. If you have questions, please call the school office.

Basketball Games:
Saturday, January 8 - MSG, MSB @ Union Grove
Tuesday, January 11 - JVG, JVB, VG, VB vs. Gospel Light
Friday, January 14 - JVG, JVB, VG, VB @ Alamance

Kindergarten Interest: We are having unprecedented interest in Kindergarten for the next school year.  At the current rate, Kindergarten could be full by the end of February.  If you have a child who could come to Kindergarten next year, please reach out to the school office and place your child on the list before we soon open enrollment.  If you know of alumni who have interest, they would need to call the school office as well. This is different than normal due to the high demand for Kindergarten.  We do have limits in our enrollment. Please call the office right away and speak with Mrs. Frye (336-824-4156).
Upcoming Enrollment: FCS will open enrollment for the new year on February 1 for existing families.  The enrollment process for existing families will be from February 1 through 14.  On February 15, we will open enrollment to new families.
NCCSA Academic Testing Competition: Each year, the NCCSA has an academic testing competition in which students in the Third through Twelfth grades from all the different Christian schools in the state of North Carolina compete against each other in online testing.

We Have A Few Openings for Strings Lessons

There are a few spots available for violin and cello lessons for students who are 8 years and up.  Lessons are given on Wednesdays during school hours, and later that day there is an orchestra practice from 2:30 - 3:05 p.m.  The Strings Program is celebrating its first anniversary this January, and we are excited about the progress and accomplishments of the first year orchestra.  Now is the time to join this effort.
If you are interested in joining the Strings Program, please call music teacher Shannon Jordan at 336-963-7800.

Attention Ladies

Dress for girls at school is khaki-like pants or loose-fitting dress pants. Colored jeans are not acceptable school attire, whether black, blue, red or khaki. Some young ladies are coming to school in very tight clothing, especially pants, or denim skirts that are not to the knee. Pants and tops are to be loose-fitting, and skirts should be to the knee. If a student persists in wearing clothing that does not meet dress code, ladies who have been asked to help us with this will then issue demerits. We prefer to just speak to the students and they comply to school dress. Please help us by helping the students comply with dress code when they leave home.

Also for ballgames, exercise style, spandex or legging type pants are not acceptable for our students. We ask that jeans not be full of holes as well.

Lunch Menu Additions and Changes

We will be making some changes to our lunch menu. We will now be offering Chick-fil-a on Tuesdays. These orders will need to be placed with the homeroom teachers on Mondays.
We are having to increase our prices on some items, and are having trouble getting some items when needed.
Also, beginning Friday, January 7, we will be having Little Caesars Pizza for students who would like to order. The pizza will be sold as individual combos, cheese or pepperoni personal pan pizzas, including a drink for $6. We would like to offer this option every Friday as well. Orders must be placed a week ahead, that is the Friday before the following Friday that the pizza will be served. Since Thursday, Dec. 16 is our last day before the holidays, we would appreciate it if orders could be placed then for lunch on January 7.
There is a $1 charge for ALL students who do not have their lunch cards at lunch. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Monday: Chinese Rice, Egg Roll, Fortune Cookie, Pear Crisp, PBJ
Tuesday: Chick-fil-a Sandwich or Nuggets (ONLY IF ORDERED ON MONDAY WITH HOMEROOM TEACHER), Lemon Pie, PBJ
Wednesday: Mexican Potatoes, Ham and Cheese Hot Pocket, Mandarin Oranges, PBJ
