Where exactly IS Rotary?
by Brad Poarch
I've been thinking a lot lately about where Rotary shows up in my day-to-day life. Sure, it shows up every Tuesday for our weekly meetings, (Even if I don't make it in person, it is still there!) but being a Rotarian is about more than just attending a lunch every week, or maybe an extra afterhours function from time to time. Yes, we all look forward to our time at Rotary as a great place to build relationships, but what other opportunities are we looking for in our daily routines that actually make our communities better?
Our mission is pretty clear cut: “We provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.” I think that it all boils down to impacting our neighbors on a personal level. So, does that mean Rotary shows up everytime we do something to improve our community?? Actually, yes. Yes it does! That brings the challenge; “How do we live the Rotary Mission on a daily basis?” READ MORE

| World Community Service Reports Disaster Relief
by Matt Bown
Sadly, there has been no shortage of tragic news related to extreme hardship for people in disaster areas. From ongoing refugee tragedies related to conflict in Ukraine and Syria to natural disasters of drought, flooding and earthquakes in Somalia, Pakistan and Turkey. Club 29, through the Rotary Club 29 Foundation, consistently strives to impact lives in these disaster areas
Through our Club’s partnership with ShelterBox as a Gold HERO club, we are participating in relief efforts in each of these areas, as well as many others. In addition, our Club’s has recently participated with direct contributions to Ukrainian refugee relief and to Rotary International’s program to support earthquake recovery efforts in Turkey. Rotary International Announces 2023-2024 Theme
Rotary International President-elect R. Gordon R. McInally called for members to capture the world's attention and lead the way toward possibilities far beyond our current expectations. McInally, a member of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry, West Lothian, Scotland, revealed the 2023-24 presidential theme, Create Hope in the World, during the Rotary International Assembly in Orlando, Florida, USA, on 9 January. He urged members to promote peace in troubled nations, help those affected by conflict, and maintain the momentum of initiatives begun by past leaders. "The goal is to restore hope — to help the world heal from destructive conflicts and, in turn, to help us achieve lasting change for ourselves," McInally said at Rotary's annual training event for incoming district governors.
