Rick Verkler (R.VER), General Manager, relocated from Washington, DC to join The Guesthouse Hotel in 2013. His time managing a luxury B&B in Washington prepared him for this next great hospitality adventure in Chicago which aligned perfectly with his passion for travel and meeting new people. Becoming the face of The Guesthouse Hotel and helping create this award-winning property are professional accomplishments he is most proud of.

Rick’s personal travel goal is to visit all 7 continents, making it to both to Australia and South America this year! When not getting his passport stamped, Rick can be found hitting a neighborhood street festival with friends and spending time with his rescue whippet, Cameron.

Scott Matthews (S.MAT) knew early in life he loved adventure and to travel.  Scott graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Hotel Management. Over the next 20 years,  he has run unique properties in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, California, and Texas: from the bottom of the Grand Canyon to the alpine high elevations of Colorado. He believes each hotel has a story to tell and that each day a hotel has the opportunity to create lifelong memories for guests.  Being part of such unique properties has been an amazing journey working with both staff and guests.  Scott learned early on to treat every guest with true kindness and sincere service and guests will come back year  after year.
