UCO to Celebrate Black History Month with Kickoff Event, Feb. 4 |
UCO will celebrate Black History Month throughout February with a variety of events themed “Black Beyond Boundaries,” which honors the limitless impact, creativity and resilience of the Black community across culture, faith, innovation and leadership.
The month will begin with the Black History Month kickoff event at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb.4, in the Nigh University Center, Constitution Hall, located on Central’s campus.
The event will feature a keynote address from Apostle Rickey Hunt Sr., a respected community leader. Hunt will speak to the power of faith, purpose and perseverance, encouraging attendees to reflect on how Black excellence continues to transcend barriers and expectations.

Broncho Wrestling Shines at Roger Denker Open |
UCO Wrestling delivered a strong all-around performance at the Roger Denker Open hosted by Central Missouri, highlighted by a championship run from Emmanuel Skillings.
Skillings captured the 197-pound title, leading a Broncho group that sent 13 key backups to the all-day tournament and returned with 11 top-six finishes. UCO posted a 43-20 overall record with 29 bonus-point wins, showcasing depth across the lineup.
UCO remains the top-ranked team in the nation. The Bronchos also picked up a big home win over No. 12 ranked Grand Valley State last Friday night, winning 30-21.

BronchoThon Giveback Night Today |
BronchoThon will host a Giveback Night at Raising Cane’s from 5-10 p.m., today, Wednesday, Jan. 21. During the event, 15% of all sales will benefit BronchoThon.
To participate, guests must mention BronchoThon at checkout or use the online code RCFUND96. The Raising Cane’s at 1225 E. 2nd St., Edmond is the only participating location.

E4E Spring Book Club Begins Feb. 2 |
Empowerment for Excellence (E4E) will offer a spring book club featuring "Year of Yes" by Shonda Rhimes, facilitated by Tori McKee, Ph.D., associate professor of management, and Liz Wallace, director of retention and outreach.
Meetings will be from 2:30-3:30 p.m., Feb. 2, March 2, March 30 and April 27. The deadline to register is Jan. 30.
Register by completing the online form. The first 10 participants to sign up will receive a copy of the book.

Workshop on Creating Healthy Communities Begins Feb. 4 |
The John A. Maisch Collective for the Greater Good, in partnership with 21CPI, will host a workshop featuring Gary Theilen, Ph.D., author of "Creating Healthy Communities: A Model for Local Action." The workshop will focus on applying the book’s model to inclusive planning and action in both rural and urban communities.
Workshop meetings will be from 2:30–3:45 p.m., Feb. 4, Feb. 11, Feb. 25 and March 4, in The Collective, Nigh University Center, Room 309A. A Zoom option will also be availalbe.
Laura Gregory from the Oklahoma City Housing Authority (OCHA) will participate, and attendees will engage in hands-on activities and discussion using their own project topics or by working with OCHA to apply the model.
