Trait Thompson is the Executive Director of the Okla. Historical Society as of January 4, 2021. Thompson began his career with the state as policy director for former Okla. Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman. During that four-year service, Thompson read every bill submitted to the senate, met with citizens from across the state and learned how to work with others to achieve shared goals. He has been the project manager for the Oklahoma Capitol Restoration Project, shepherding the preservation and restoration of one of Oklahoma's most important historical artifacts—the State Capitol.

A Connection of Service
by Brad Poarch
The last few articles I have written for Rotary Reflections have focused on our motto of “Service Above Self”. This time, I was convinced it would be different. I had planned to write about a growing issue facing the leaders in this post-COVID environment - the employment market and using our core values to help grow high-quality teams.
Then, I attended a 4th grade Veterans Day assembly.
I sat in the crowd of parents listening to our children sing with the choir. I watched my son join in the celebration of our country’s heroes. It took a group of 9-year-olds to remind me of the meaning of service, family, freedom, and the sacrifice made by our veterans to this country. It was at that moment, I realized I had no choice but to talk about selfless service once again.
Although I didn't serve in the military, I come from a family full of service men and women. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and even the Coast Guard. The Poarch family has worn each of these uniforms with pride. We grew up hearing stories about their time in the service. They would reminisce about the friendships, the challenges, the fears, and the pride that came along with serving their country. I looked up to each of them as heroes. READ MORE

Rotary Dues Increase - Jan. 1, 2023 - A Message from President Wes
Fellow Rotarians, At the Sept. 27 lunch meeting, we shared some news about a conversation that began over two years ago. Prior to the pandemic, it was clear to our administration committee, budget committee, and board of officers and directors that a dues increase would be necessary for the club to maintain a balanced budget. With the arrival of the pandemic, we were able to delay that conversation. As we’ve seen a return to normal club operations, meetings, and service, we’ve also seen an increase in almost every expense of the club due to inflation and we were forced to revisit the conversation. At the recommendation of our administration and budget committees, the 2021-2022 board of officers and directors approved a dues increase of $15 per quarter, or $5 a month, effective January 1, 2023.
