A Combat-Veteran Takes to the Skies
The "Flying Demo" of the
Curtiss P-40N "Warhawk"
At 12:15pm, the Museum's Ken Saltgaver will present our January 2024 "Flying Demo." Ken will tell us about the development and use of the Curtiss P-40 "Warhawk" during the Second World War. And he'll relate the unique history of this particular aircraft - a combat veteran with the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Ken will then step aside as Museum pilot Chris Fahey takes the controls and starts the powerful 1,200 horsepower Allison V-1710 inline engine directly in front of the crowd. Chris will then taxi away, giving Ken time to hold our "Member's Only" Raffle contest for a flight in one of our World War II era military trainers.
Then the show really starts as Chris takes off and puts on an aerial display directly overhead. Making multiple passes over the Museum (perfect for getting some great photos), Chris will demonstrate the speed and agility of the P-40 for twenty minutes.
Upon his return, guests will be able to ask questions and talk with Chris to learn more about this amazing aircraft.
