FACULTY DEVELOPMENT 

Professional-Track Faculty Conference Attendance Program (PCAP) 
PCAP provides funding to support professional-track faculty attending academic and professional workshops or conferences. Eligible faculty may apply for up to $1,400 to support attending a conference or workshop. Applications will open on Monday, June 1 for travel between Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026 and Sunday, Aug. 15, 2027.  The application window will close on Tuesday, June 30 at 5 p.m. CST.

Candidate Promotion Statement Writing Session
The Provost's Faculty Affairs team (in collaboration with The University Writing Center) is offering a targeted writing workshop designed to help faculty promotion candidates develop clear, reflective and compelling promotion statements:   
Additional Contributions Statement  
Tuesday, May 26 | 9 – 10:30 a.m. | WCP 2.120 | Register
This interactive session is open to all professional-track faculty preparing dossiers for promotion review in Fall 2026, all of whom are required to submit an Additional Contributions to the Academic Enterprise statement as part of their promotion materials. The session will focus on how to narrate broader impact beyond faculty’s primary area of responsibility, which may include contributions in service, mentoring, teaching, curriculum development, research and scholarship, depending on the faculty member's primary area of review.

FACULTY RESEARCH & GRANT OPPORTUNITIES  

Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award
The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award Competition is now open, offering more than 380 opportunities for U.S. citizens to go abroad in Fall 2027 – Spring 2028. The competition closes on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Interested faculty may contact txglobal-grants@austin.utexas.edu for guidance.

Faculty Travel Grants
Eligible faculty may receive up to $1,400 per academic year for travel expenses to support presenting their original papers at scholarly and professional meetings. Applications are now open for travel during the 2025-26 academic year (through Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026 ). Applications for travel in the 2026-27 academic year will open on Monday, June 1, 2026.

President's Research Impact Award Nominations Open
For the 2027 cycle, nominations will be solicited exclusively from deans.
Each dean may submit up to two nominees from their college or school.  Nominations must be submitted by Monday, June 22 by 5 p.m. CST via the online nomination form. Nomination materials must effectively communicate the unique impact of a discrete and recent research project or effort. Notably, this award is not for lifetime or career-long achievement, but for a single contribution or a defined series of research activities that have demonstrated impact beyond academia. If you have questions about the nomination process, please contact Lauren Shinn at lauren.shinn@austin.utexas.edu.

UT Sage – Get Ready for Fall with an AI Tutor!  
UT Sage builds AI tutors trained on your course material that help students practice and reinforce course concepts using learning science principles. Tutors integrate directly with Canvas, so students can access them right where they already learn. 
Annual Enrollment 2026: What’s New + Key Dates  
Annual Enrollment runs from Wednesday July 15 – Friday, July 31. All benefits-eligible employees should review their coverage and make any updates in MyUT Benefits for the new plan year which will begin on Tuesday,  Sept. 1. If you're away from campus this summer, be sure to plan ahead. Consider setting a calendar reminder so you don’t miss your opportunity to make changes. What’s new this year: New voluntary benefits options, including pet insurance, a legal plan and additional  coverage for critical illness, accidents and hospital stays. To assist with planning, employees may download the Annual Enrollment 2026 Calendar. Stay tuned for upcoming communications. 
Responsible Use of AI in Graduate Education 
The Office of Academic Technology and the Graduate School welcome comments and feedback for the responsible use of AI in graduate education at UT Austin. Share comments by Sunday, May 31.  
The Moritz Center for Societal Impact is Ready to Sponsor Your Graduate Students
The Social Impact Challenge (SIC) pitch competition will award $5,000 prizes to graduate students from any CSU who are launching innovative community service projects utilizing the arts and humanities to address behavioral health needs. Students will receive faculty mentoring and coaching in preparation for a live pitch, which will be presented to an on-campus audience this September. Applications are open now and will close on Tuesday, June 30. Visit the competition website.
International Travel Registry 
Texas Global has launched the new International Travel Registry (ITR) hosted on Via, a travel-planning platform. The registry is a mandatory component of the international travel process required for UT Austin students and employees traveling for University business. Contact the GRS team for assistance or more information.

Health Communication Leadership Institute

Moody College of Communication and Dell Medical will host a joint event open to all UT faculty and staff with a discounted rate. Registration closes on Friday, May 29.  
Energy, Technology and Policy Conference 
Tuesday, June 30 – Thursday, July 2 | 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. | The Commons Learning Center on J.J. Pickle Research Campus | Register
Register for the Energy, Technology and Policy Conference, a multidisciplinary conference that will give participants an overview of energy technologies, fuels, environmental impacts and public policies.
