Dear Faculty and Staff,

Colorado College’s Strategic IT Governance Framework is now live.

This model was created to ensure that technology investments are aligned with institutional strategy, responsibly resourced, and sustainable across the enterprise. This governance structure includes representatives from multiple areas of the College, and reflects CC’s shared governance approach—bringing together expertise and perspectives from across campus to guide technology decisions collaboratively.

All IT requests should continue to be submitted through tickets.

What is Changing

ITS will now triage all incoming requests. If a request is determined to have strategic, cross-divisional, enterprise, compliance, or significant resource impact, we will reach out with next steps and guide it through governance review.

Governance review will evaluate initiatives based on:

  • Institutional impact
  • Strategic alignment
  • Risk and compliance considerations
  • Resource availability and timing
  • Portfolio balance

Not all initiatives will begin immediately. Projects will be sequenced based on priority, institutional impact, and available capacity.

What to Expect

  • Governance review may extend decision timelines.
  • Early planning and proactive engagement are strongly encouraged.
  • ITS will notify you if your technology request enters governance review and outline next steps.

Our goal is to increase transparency, reduce reactive work, and ensure we are focusing on the highest-impact initiatives for CC.

We appreciate your collaboration as we mature our governance and portfolio management practices.

Sincerely,

Khaleel Gathers

Vice President & Chief Information Officer
