We've made it! Congratulations to your student on finishing the spring semester, and an extra congratulations to those who just graduated. Thank you for being such an important part of our students' support network.
I am so proud of all our students accomplish every year in the classroom and beyond. I hope you have a chance to reconnect with your student back home, cheer them on during an internship or watch them grow in whatever their experience is this summer.
You'll just hear from me once per month throughout the summer, but I am always here to provide support. I'm already looking forward to Welcome Week!

Support doesn't end with the semester |
Do you know a student needing support for meals this summer or are they looking to get more involved with the community? Summer is a great time to explore all Athens provides.
|
-
Attend a Community Make-It Day to share skills and create items that will be donated to organizations in our community.
-
Find free meals nearly every day of the week across Athens, like Friday Night Life with Good Works or Tuesday Lunch at Tavolino.
-
Visit The Plains Public Library for Q Cafe twice a month for a calm, low-key social space for LGBTQ+ folks to get together and talk.
-
There are volunteer opportunities throughout the summer at organizations across Athens.

Though the University remains open all summer, some hours of certain offices and services might change. A few spaces and services are listed below, but students should make sure to check the website for other areas!
For all dining venues, cafes and markets, check the Hours and Locations webpage. Bobcat HangOUt will be open under the same hours as Baker, still requiring students to swipe with their OHIO ID to access the room. Cats' Cupboard remains open by appointment. Find Ping hours on the website, and continue to get free entry for students registered for at least .5 credit hours.

Students can check OHIO job listings throughout the summer and should consider applying for a student job next year. There's even a few positions open now if they are looking for a summer gig. A little extra cash can go a long way, and there are some great opportunities for professional development.

Attend the Juneteenth Festival on College Green on June 19 or take a Black History Tour of Athens. This year's event is being hosted in partnership with the City of Athens, Athens County Foundation, Racial Equity Coalition of Appalachia, Athens NAACP, and Mount Zion Black Cultural Center.
