Dear Tulane Community,
On Friday, June 30, the downtown campus will allow nonessential personnel to leave at 3 p.m. due to traffic and congestion expected for the Essence Festival, which is being held in downtown New Orleans this weekend. Evening classes on the downtown campus will be held as scheduled, while all other campuses will observe normal operating schedules.
Please note that the 1555 Poydras parking garage will be used for event parking during the Essence Festival on Friday, June 30, starting at 3 p.m. Permit holders and visitors will be required to pay the $25 event rate if they enter the garage after 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
Essential personnel, including employees providing patient care in clinics or hospitals, engineers managing buildings, security personnel, vivarium staff managing animals, technicians performing experiments, pharmacy employees, and occupational medicine staff, may not be permitted to leave early. If you belong to any of these categories, please consult with your supervisor to determine whether you are eligible for early dismissal or if you are required to complete your regular shift.
If you are scheduled to work remotely on June 30, I encourage you to check with your supervisor to determine if there have been any modifications to your assignments, meetings, or other work functions due to the early dismissal.
Non-exempt employees on the downtown campus who are eligible for early dismissal should clock out at 3 p.m. on June 30. The department timekeepers will add the relevant "Paid Not Worked" hours in Kronos to ensure that you receive pay for the remainder of the day. Exempt and student employees do not need to take any action in this regard.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to the Payroll department at payroll@tulane.edu.
Thank you for your understanding.
Patrick J. Norton Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
