HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
A big Happy Birthday to everyone!  Back in May, the YMCA of Greater Springfield celebrated its 169th birthday and this July the United States celebrates its 245th birthday.  So with all this celebration going on, please accept our 2021 birthday well wishes to you.

DISCOVERY

The YMCA of Greater Springfield has three summer day camps:  Camp Fun City, Springfield; Camp Stony Brook Acres, Wilbraham; and Camp Weber, West Springfield.  Every day, hundreds of children come to one of our camps where they can learn to swim, go swimming, mountain bike riding, do archery, rock climbing, high ropes, play sports, create arts & crafts masterpieces, go on walks, learn summer STEM projects, take field trips, make friends, and so much more.  As they spend their time with our staff, their days are filled with fun and adventure all while living out the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.  Because of COVID-19, last summer we were only able to open Camp Fun City and Camp Stony Brook Acres.  We are excited to re-open Camp Weber for this summer.

IMPACT
The YMCA has helped me in many ways. One being my social skills. I have been able to “make friends” and “fit in”. Another being, working with younger children at Camp Weber. I am able to participate in their CIT program (counselor in training). I have learned to be patient and realized the importance of working with smaller children and help them succeed in something each day. I highly recommend the YMCA to any teen looking to learn new skills and develop their own self.

DID YOU KNOW?
Our summer camp staff, in many cases are also our after school staff so the children get to see them all year if they are enrolled in both programs.  Camp and After School begin with you in Kindergarten through the teen years.  Keep us in mind for next summer and this upcoming school year.  For more detail on program or employment opportunities, please visit our website at www.springfieldy.org
COMMUNITY IMPACT
Over the course of the past several months, Camp Weber has been getting a face lift with the help of so many community members making their own impact on the community through the Y. We want to thank them for their time, talent & treasure to help make our camp ready for our campers this summer. So the next time you see them, call them or visit their location, please extend a thank you for helping out.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN IMPACT
There is still time! The kids are ready to get out of their homes and be outside.  At the Y we don’t turn away anyone due to the inability to pay in full for programs and services, which is a reason the Y raises money to help in this endeavor.  It cost approximately $200 per week to send a child to one of our camps. Would you consider making an impact on a child’s life by making a contribution toward sending a child to camp?  Donations can be made: payable to the YMCA of Greater Springfield, P.O. Box 15329, Springfield, MA 01115-5329 or can be made online at https://ops1.operations.daxko.com/online/2054/OnlineGiving/Donation.mvc
Also, the YMCA has a gift registry at Walmart for arts & crafts supplies at https://www.walmart.com/registry/registryforgood/a6a3d847-6777-4e2d-a1e3-8eedc0ceb613/view
