Hello, SGA Members --
We have just returned from the SGA trip to Jefferson Landing, in the mountains of North Carolina. The event ended on Wednesday evening, September 25, and all participants drove out early on Thursday morning.
Just a day and a half later, the rain and wind of Hurricane Helene roared into the Carolinas, causing downed trees, widespread flooding, and landslides in the western North Carolina area.
The designated charity of the SGA Jefferson Landing event, Ashe Food Pantry, is a highly-regarded non-profit in the area. It was recommended to us by Jefferson Landing golf professional and local resident Wrenn Johnson.
This organization now is funneling 100% of all donations to hurricane disaster relief. The website is www.ashefoodpantry.org. Those wishing to contribute to hurricane relief in the mountains are encouraged to support the work of Ashe Food Pantry.
Beloved SGA members at Springdale/Cold Mountain have let us know that, although they have been without power and water, they and their homes are safe.
We are waiting to hear from Wrenn and the staff at Jefferson Landing, and from our longtime contacts at Waynesville Inn & Golf Club and at Linville Golf Club. Information will be sent out to everyone when we receive.
All best wishes to everyone affected by this devastating weather phenomonon.
Cynthia, Catherine & SGA
