Member Spotlight

Julia Goulet

School: University of South Carolina

Newspaper: The Daily Gamecock
Title: Opinion editor

Major: Journalism

What made you decide to start working for The Daily Gamecock?
I joined TDG because I wanted some experience in journalistic writing. And I joined opinion because I'm a very opinionated person and needed an outlet to write.

What do you like best about your new organization?

I love all the people I've met so far, from staff members to the people I've interviewed. I also love knowing everything that's going on on-campus since I'm a very nosy person.

What do you like best about your campus?

I love the atmosphere on campus, whenever I'm stressed or need to clear my head I always walk around the horseshoe sometimes listening to music, sometimes just listening to what's going on around me.

What's your favorite thing you've written about so far?

I wrote about The Rowan and how on move in day a bunch of residents walked into a messy apartment. I got to talk to the residents and listen to their experiences. This was one of the pieces I felt like could actually make a difference.

When made aware of its completion, The Tiger promptly filed a Freedom of Information Act request with Clemson University for a copy of the University police incident report in full, with any supplementary documentation. To support transparency, The Tiger has decided to publish the source documents made available under the Freedom of Information Act.
