Take action to advance the impact of AmeriCorps |
Over the past couple months, we have been committed to the vital work of championing AmeriCorps across Texas and the nation, and we’re encouraged by the momentum. From community-based programs serving neighbors every day to national partners advocating for service, the AmeriCorps network continues to demonstrate resilience, collaboration, and impact. Together, we are ensuring that national service remains a powerful force for strengthening communities and creating opportunities for Texans to serve.
This spring has been a time of connection and shared purpose. In February, we joined more than 70 state service commission executive directors and commissioners in Washington, D.C., for the Leadership Convening hosted by America’s Service Commissions. The gathering allowed us to discuss high-level trends, revisit shared goals, and exchange best practices that strengthen service nationwide. We were also grateful for the opportunity to participate in a States for Service Congressional briefing, where we shared about the vital role state service commissions play in supporting communities and advancing national service with policymakers.
Back home in Texas, we convened leaders from more than 30 AmeriCorps programs for our 2026 AmeriCorps Texas Grantee Meeting, themed “Surviving to Thriving.” The Survivor-themed event blended creativity and practical learning to help programs navigate change, strengthen partnerships, support member well-being, and build stronger pathways from service to careers. Shortly after, AmeriCorps Week (March 9-13) offered another moment to celebrate service in action. Programs across Texas honored their members, shared powerful stories of impact, and engaged local partners—reminding communities across our state of the transformative power of national service. At OneStar, we took the opportunity to spark engagement from our Congressional representatives and reconnect with AmeriCorps alums.
We are grateful for the dedication of AmeriCorps programs, members, alums, and partners who continue to serve communities every day. Your work demonstrates that AmeriCorps is strong, thriving, and meeting real needs across Texas. As we look ahead, we invite you to keep sharing your stories, engaging elected officials, and speaking out for the power of national service!

Call for Sponsors: Invest in Built For Texas data to strengthen our nonprofit sector |
Strong communities require strong data. The Built For Texas report provides the most comprehensive look at the size, scope, and economic impact of the Texas nonprofit sector—helping funders, policymakers, and nonprofit leaders understand how nonprofits power local economies and community well-being. Our latest report examined data through 2019, but since then, the COVID pandemic and major economic and social shifts have transformed the landscape. Now is the time to produce a new report that reflects today’s realities and emerging opportunities.
The next edition of the Built For Texas report will combine statewide economic impact analysis, regional insights, and lived experience from the field to highlight trends, opportunities, and actionable recommendations for the sector. Sponsorship will make possible accessible research, interactive data tools, and resources that help communities plan strategically and invest wisely. We invite foundations, companies, and philanthropic leaders to partner with us in bringing this important work to life. Download our sponsorship overview or contact us to learn how you can support the next Built for Texas report.

| Nonprofit BRIDGE Conference connects research with community |
On February 2-3, leaders from across Texas gathered in College Station for the Nonprofit BRIDGE Conference, hosted by the Center for Nonprofits & Philanthropy at Texas A&M University, to strengthen connections between nonprofit organizations, academic researchers, and community partners. The conference highlights collaborations where university research and nonprofit practice come together to solve real-world challenges and advance community-based solutions across our state.
We also took the opportunity to convene our OneStar Statewide Network Meeting as a pre-conference session, bringing together partners to share wins, challenges, and resources that build capacity for nonprofits, universities, and communities alike. These conversations reinforced an important truth: when academic rigor meets practical, on-the-ground experience, innovation follows. We are grateful to the Center for Nonprofits & Philanthropy for convening this important gathering and to our network partners for continuing to strengthen the nonprofit sector through collaboration and shared learning!

This report models how provisions in 2025 H.R. 1 may influence household and corporate charitable giving in the United States. The report analyzes key policies using IRS tabulations, national survey data, and CECP corporate data, applying established economic methods to present low, central, and high estimates for each policy and their combined effects. The analysis provides a framework for understanding how legislative changes could reshape both individual and corporate philanthropy in 2026. Check out a recording of the webinar discussing the report findings here.
