FEBRUARY 2021
LMU Workday Updates for Managers
Dear colleagues,
LMU continues to make rapid progress towards our Workday go-live on June 27. Beginning this month, each Workday for Managers newsletter will spotlight a different feature that will help you in your role as a supervisor.
For February, we will take a deeper look at the recruiting process in Workday (and your role in it) as well as the Manager Self Service features.
Recruiting in Workday
Workday provides all managers with increased visibility into the different stages of the recruitment process. When recruiting a future position for your team, the entire process will be managed through Workday.
- When a new position in your department is approved or you need to fill a vacancy, you can create the job requisition in Workday.
- Workday will compile all applications, to easily view various ways off a central dashboard and candidate grid.
- As you progress through the recruiting process, you'll be able to view the status of the open position and corresponding documents.
- Workday will allow you to schedule interviews that will interface with your calendar.
- Once an applicant accepts an offer, all on-boarding paperwork will be managed through Workday – no more paper!
Manager Self Service
Manager Self Service provides supervisors a higher level of visibility into the roles of their direct reports, beyond what’s visible in Employee Self Service (check out tomorrow's LMU This Week for a sneak peek at Employee Self Service!).
In Manager Self Service, you can access:
- Personal Information: View the position details, job history, and compensation for each of your direct reports.
- HR Reports: Access reports that support HR-related analytics and decisions.
- Career Profiles: View the career profile of your direct reports. Career profiles are self-populated by employees with their career/work experience, education and certifications, professional affiliations, and achievements. Profiles can provide you, as a supervisor, a deeper understanding and appreciation for your direct reports' strengths, education, and accomplishments – helping to better inform talent development conversations and guide employees' professional development.
- Performance Reviews: Eventually, annual staff performance reviews will be conducted through Workday, beginning in April/May 2022.
- Please note, managers cannot view direct reports' personal information not related to their specific role, such as pay slips, direct deposit information, benefits enrollment, or retirement contributions.
If you missed it, we also encourage you to read last week’s “Workday is Coming!” announcement. This email included high-level descriptions of what will change in Workday, as well as a short promo video, that will help inform your staff and get them prepared for go-live this summer.
As always, we are here for any feedback, questions, or concerns you may have. Feel free to drop us a line at propel@lmu.edu.
