Brian Walsh closes on his $50,000 purchase of WGL (1250am, Fort Wayne) and the CP for an FM translator from Adams Radio Group.
Kaysie Chase exits the morning co-host seat at Federated Media's Country/WQHK (105.1fm, Huntertown). Ms. Chase and Josh Michaels joined "K-105" in June 2018, after both worked for Brewer Broadcasting at their Country/WQLK (96.1fm, Richmond) (IRW 06/11/2018). Mr. Michaels continues hosting mornings.
Northeast Indiana Public Radio's WBOI (89.1fm, Fort Wayne) updated their .3 subchannel to carry The Audio Reading Service. This is a free radio reading service for people who are blind or have a visual or a reading impairment.
Northcentral
Sound Management's CHR/WNDV (92.9fm, South Bend) welcomes Aaron "Goose" Seller and Jodee Woods to mornings. Mr. Seller last was on air at mutliple iHeart radio stations throughout Colorado (Denver, Colorado Springs, and Fort Collins). Ms. Woods last worked in Fargo, North Dakota for Midwest Communications in middays at KVOX-FM. "Goose and Jodee" succeeds the married morning duo of Dave O'Connor ("Irish Dave") and Christine. (IRW 06/25/2020).
At Sound Management's Rock/WYXX (97.7fm, Goshen), Bayless moves to afternoons, succeeding Gary Hegland.
Circle City Broadcasting's CW affiliate/WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis) begins a simulcast of their local newscasts with Family Broadcasting's WHME-TV (Channel 46, South Bend). When do Michiana TV viewers see WISH-TV?
During the week:
Daybreak News (4am until 10am)
All Indiana News (4pm until 5pm)
Evening News (5pm until 7pm)
Nightly News (10pm until 11:30pm).
On Saturday:
Daybreak (5:30am until 7am)
News 8 at 6:00 (6pm until 6:30pm)
News 8 at 11:00 (11pm until 11:30pm).
On Sunday evening, WHME airs the WISH 10pm news block of 30 minutes of news and 30 minutes of SportsLocker. Finally, Family Broadcasting Corp. is the former LeSEA Broadcasting, founded by the late Dr. Lester Sumrall.
Weigel Broadcasting’s ABC affiliate/WBND (Channel 57, South Bend) welcomes meteorologist John Hammersmith. Mr. Hammersmith last worked in Lawton, Oklahoma as the morning meteorologist at KSWO-TV (Channel 7).
Northwest
Chris Fleming exits as GM of the Neuhoff Media/Lafayette cluster, and joins El Dorado Broadcasters, as EVP/GM of their Victorville, California radio stations. Mike Shamus succeeds Mr. Fleming in the GM chair. Mr. Shamus most recently wore multiple hats at Neuhoff: VP/Programming, OM for the Lafayette cluster, and PD/morning co-host of Country/WKOA (105.3fm, Lafayette). Dick Wolfsie retired after working 30 years for WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis). He was a feature reporter on "Daybreak" (until 2010), then contributed during "Weekend Daybreak". He also hosted AM Indiana from 1989 until 1991 from Union Station. Before moving to Indianapolis, Mr. Wolfsie hosted talk shows in Boston, New York, Chicago, and Columbus, Ohio.
The Hamilton Times profiles Riley Dugan, daughter of actor and comedian Dave Dugan. Ms. Dugan attends Carmel High School and works at their WHJE (91.3fm, Carmel).
Where Are They Now? Former then-Clear Channel/Indianapolis Director of FM Programming Scott Jameson recently joined Beasley Media Group as Director of Programming for their Detroit, Michigan cluster.
Southeast
Midland Media announces the $400,000 sale of their Classic Rock/WJAA (96.3fm, Austin) to Rebecca and Brent Schepman's Social Butterfly Media. Ms. Schepman graduated college with a broadcasting degree, then joined WJAA in mornings and did sales. She worked there for 12 years, and then took time off to be a Mom. Here's the WJAA website.
Southwest
Andy Anderson's Radio Active Media sells Sports/WQXQ (101.9fm, Central City, Kentucky) to Educational Media Foundation for 617,000. The broker on this deal is Joe Tito (American Communications Partners).
