RTSWS CEO & Founder Shares

How Investment Literacy

Can Drive Change

As we reflect on the importance of financial education and understanding during this Financial Literacy Month, our RTSWS CEO and Founder, Maura Cunningham and Alan Livsey, CFA (CFA UK) enjoyed a lively podcast. They discuss the importance of prioritizing financial and investment literacy as key to closing the gender and wage gaps.
Maura shared about her own personal journey in finance, emphasizing the importance of Rock the Street, Wall Street's programs and the impact they make. This can be seen in promoting financial literacy and encouraging young women to understand their finances and future investments, as well as to help students and alumnae pursue careers in finance.
Maura: "We have a 71% three-year weighted average of investment literacy increase among our students [and] 25% of our students are choosing to major in finance, economics or a related business computational field."

Highline Capital Prepares the

Next Generation with

Summer Investment Bootcamp

For the past 2 summers, Highline Capital has welcomed RTSWS alumnae to their summer investment bootcamp. The 8-day bootcamp, held at their Manhattan offices, features a deep-dive into investment finance with training and teaching each morning. In the afternoon, students hear from guest speakers and collaborate on a group project with other bootcamp participants.
This year, 6 RTSWS alumnae (college freshmen and sophomores) will participate in the bootcamp. This is an fantastic opportunity for undergraduate students to learn in-demand skills in a fast-paced, concentrated environment and gain practical experience inside the industry.

We appreciate Highline Capital and Jake Doft, CIO, for hosting our alum and for preparing them for their future careers.
We encourage all of our sponsoring firms to get ahead of the curve and host a bootcamp of their own. High school and undergraduate students are seeking these opportunities and are excited to gain exposure to the various roles within finance.
Support for RTSWS provides young women the opportunity to increase their financial literacy and get connected to mentors within the industry.
