Help Students Be Aware of Fraudulent Job Offers
|
As we enter the spring semester, many students have already begun or will begin searching for internships and full-time opportunities for the summer. Data such as their job status and resume may be public and can be used by bad actors posing as recruiters or employers to solicit sensitive information in exchange for interviews or representation.
Here are a few things to make students aware of when it comes to fraudulent offers and some tips to stay safe:
- They were contacted about a job they didn't apply for.
-
If the job offer is too good to be true, then it probably is.
- Never provide information such as an SSN or driver's license over the phone or email, especially on initial contact.
