Branding update – roadshow presentation video and clarification on logo lock ups |
Thanks to those of you who were able to attend one of the two branding roadshow presentations on March 27 and 28. If you were not able to attend a presentation but would like to view a video recording of it, Marketing and Communication has posted it on the Graphic Identity webpage.
One of the guiding principles of our brand roll out is to provide something for everyone before anyone gets everything. This is why we are creating logo lock ups for colleges and academic departments as well as administrative divisions and offices. You can view the schedule for the remaining lock up roll out on the Brand Roll Out Timeline.
While Marketing and Communication is focused initially on building equity for our university brand and logo across internal and external audiences, we encourage colleges, departments, divisions and offices to use their official lock ups for a variety of reasons, including t-shirts, stationery and event flyers. We are working on a policy that will accommodate a wide variety of use cases for logo lock ups while preserving their integrity. In the meantime, please be aware of several guidelines we have established for minimum imprint area requirements:
- Vertical minimum size is 1” width x 1.12” height.
-
Horizontal minimum size is 4.3” width x .45” height.
If you are considering using your logo lock up for items whose imprint areas do not meet these minimum size requirements, such as pens, please use the university logo or contact us at branding@radford.edu to discuss alternative solutions.

Don’t forget annual Security Awareness training |
In the month since Radford University rolled out the 2024 Security Awareness training, 26% of employees have completed it. Information Technology Services (IT) would like to remind you that we are almost halfway through the time allotted to complete the training.
While it may not be top of mind – especially considering that we are near the end of the school year and we are all incredibly busy – it shouldn’t take more than an hour and can be completed on any internet-enabled device.
| |
Here are some ideas on completing tasks like this training:
- Make it a game: in IT, there’s a friendly competition to see whose team finishes first and who is last.
- Baby steps: watch two modules every day. You’ll average less than 10 minutes a day and finish in 11 days.
- Move around: you don’t have to do the training in the same place every day. Try somewhere new. (You may want to use headphones if you go to a public space.)
IT will start sending out automated reminders beginning in May, and the training is due to be completed by the last week in May.

Separation checklist for full-time and wage employees moving to online format |
Radford University's Office of Human Resources is in the process of completing an update of the separation checklist for full-time and wage employees (excluding student wage).
Effective Friday, April 19, the checklist will be completed online and stored electronically for easier processing and auditing. With this change, paper forms will no longer be accepted. Notifications for the completion of the checklist will be provided to the supervisor of record. The link for the form will be updated, so Human Resources is asking all supervisors to use the new form. If you have saved this form elsewhere, it will no longer be a valid way of entering/processing the form. The separation checklist for student wage will not change at this time. When the student wage separation checklist transitions to the new platform, campus will be notified.

Tartan Tails second annual Barkalaureate |
The entire Radford University community is invited to join Tartan Tails for the second annual Barkalaureate Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday, April 23, 2-3 p.m. on McConnell Lawn on the main campus.
Tartan Tails was established as a wellness program in 2022 and is designed to promote well-being across the Radford University community through positive interactions with trained and certified animals.
| |
The practice of pet therapy has gained considerable recognition for its numerous benefits, as it has been shown to alleviate stress, reduce anxiety, enhance mood and promote overall healing.
Tartan Tails aims to further Radford’s approach of holistic wellness by using the advantages of pet therapy in order to enhance the lives of individuals within our campus community. The program is an initiative of Radford University’s First Lady Kay Danilowicz and her therapy dog, Bainne. The Division of Student Affairs provides administrative oversight for the program.
