Health Insurance Waiver Reminder | July 18, 2025

Hello Jumbos!

Before we share several deadline reminders with you, we are happy to announce that the Health and Wellness team is hosting opportunities for personal consultation during move in. Our medical and mental health staff have set aside times for students to speak with them about any individual concerns they may have for the upcoming year. These 15 minute consultations are on a first come, first served basis.

Health Insurance

All students are required to have Health Insurance. We strongly encourage you to compare your current insurance with the student health insurance using the Tufts Student Health Plan Comparison Tool. If you have comparable existing coverage, you can apply to waive the student health insurance before July 31 OR you will be automatically enrolled and billed.

Waiver application available June 1 on Student Information System (SIS). Must be completed by July 31, 2025.
If your insurance meets Massachusetts requirements including minimum creditable coverage and you do not waive by July 31, you will be enrolled in the student health insurance for this year.
If you have already completed the waiver process after we wrote to you on May 20, you can disregard this message.
Many international insurance plans––such as ISO, WellAway, Medicover, AIG, and Seven Corners––do not meet Massachusetts’ health insurance requirements and minimum creditable coverage standards, even if they include a U.S. claims address.

Optional Tuition Insurance

Tuition insurance offers financial protection in case of a medical withdrawal. It will be available for fall and spring enrollment later this summer via the A.W.G. Dewar website. Enrollment must be before the first day of classes on September 2, 2025.
