It's been almost a month since the fall term started – how's everything going? If you're in need of a pick-me-up, this heartwarming video from move-in day sums up what we, as parents of college students, hope for every day. Spoiler alert: grab a tissue – I've used a whole box. Your student is in the right place! Together, our support will ensure a transformative college experience.

JUNIOR & SENIOR FAMILY WEEKEND – REGISTER NOW!
Junior & Senior Family Weekend
Junior & Senior Family Weekend is Friday, November 4 through Sunday, November 6. Registration is now open on the up.edu/familyweekend page. Your adventure starts with Brews on The Bluff, PilotTalks (UP's new speaker forum), academic presentations, a montage concert featuring UP jazz, choral, orchestral, and wind ensemble performances, as well as women's volleyball and men's soccer games that will highlight the Junior and Senior student experience on The Bluff. We can't wait to see you!
SHOW SOME LOVE WITH A PILOT SNACK PACK
Pilots Snack Pack
What says "good luck on finals" better than a box full of students' favorite snacks? Show your support and encouragement by purchasing a Pilots Snack Pack for your student by October 31. With a variety of snacks and UP swag, a Pilots Snack Pack will brighten any student's day as they work toward finishing their semester. Students will be emailed when Snack Packs are ready for pick up on November 29. Off-campus students may pick their Snack Pack up at the Alumni House at that time.
CAREER EDUCATION CENTER: FALL WORKSHOPS

UP's Career Education Center offers workshops throughout the year for students in all class years. Check out this fall workshop schedule so you can talk about it with your student and encourage them to attend one.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM ORIENTATION WEEKEND
New student Orientation provided parents and families with lots of helpful information, but parents or family members in any class year may find this handout helpful. It takes a week-by-week look at typical student experiences, possible responses, and how you can be of support as they settle into fall semester. In case you were unable to join us at Orientation, here are slides from the Parents As Partners presentations for an overview.
STUDY ABROAD APPLICATIONS DUE NOVEMBER 18
Ask your student about their interest in study abroad, and ask them to keep you informed if they plan to apply. If you are curious to know more about the study abroad process, we have included an overview here. Study abroad applications are due November 18, 2022 for Summer 2023, Fall 2023, or Spring 2024 programs. 
THE LEARNING COMMONS: PEER-TUTORING RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS
This month we're profiling the UP Writing Center. It's an exceptional peer-tutoring resource that supports student writers in everything from creating an outline to a research project or thesis. With in-person and online appointments, 22 writing assistants offer guidance from early brainstorming stages to final drafts. Read more about the Learning Commons and its tutoring options for student support.

First-Year & Sophomore Family Weekend is Friday, February 17 to Sunday, February 19, 2023! More details and registration information will be shared later in the semester for this memory-making weekend filled with music, basketball, socials, academic showcases, and the opportunity to spend quality time with your student while meeting fellow Pilot parents!
