Where did the summer go? Orientation and move-in day for our newest Pilots and transfer students is next week! Whether your student is leaving home for the first time, commuting, or is a returning Pilot anxious to be back on The Bluff, this month's newsletter provides useful information to review before we welcome them to campus.

NEW & COMMUTER STUDENT ORIENTATION: AUGUST 25

New Student Orientation for first-year students, transfer students, and families starts August 25! Be sure to visit the Pilot Hospitality tent by the UP Bookstore from 9 to 4 p.m. on August 25 for snacks, swag, information, photos (and tissues!), and then celebrate with fellow parents, faculty, and staff at 7:30 p.m. at the Parent and Family Social on The Bluff! We can't wait to welcome you to campus!

TOP NINE REASONS TO LIVE ON CAMPUS – there's still room!

There are more than 9 top reasons to live on campus, but If your student needs housing, there's still room in our welcoming and activity-filled residence halls for the upcoming academic year. Our incredible Residence Life staff care for student well-being, safety, and development throughout the year. Students can sign up today by logging in to eRezLife and submitting a housing application. Email Residence Life at reslife@up.edu if you have questions.

SAVE THE DATE: JUNIOR & SENIOR FAMILY WEEKEND

Junior & Senior Family Weekend is Friday, November 4 through Sunday, November 6. Save the date for this fun-filled weekend introducing our new PilotTalks showcase. Family Weekend favorites include a montage concert featuring UP jazz, choral, orchestral and wind ensemble performances, as well as volleyball and soccer games that will highlight the Junior and Senior student experience on The Bluff. Details and registration information will be shared soon!

STUDY ABROAD INFORMATION SESSIONS COMING UP

Family members of first-year students are invited to join us during Orientation on Friday, August 26 at 2:30 pm in Buckley Auditorium to learn about study abroad at UP. If your student is interested in studying abroad, encourage them to join us for the Study Abroad Open House on Wednesday, September 14 from 6-9 pm in Bauccio Commons. Applications to study abroad in Summer 2023, Fall 2023, or Spring 2024 are due November 18, 2022. Read about the study abroad experience UP students have had this summer!

SERVICE OPPORTUNITY WITH THE MOREAU CENTER FOR SERVICE & JUSTICE

First-year and transfer students, there is still room to participate in the Moreau Center 2022 Plunge Into Your Neighborhood service opportunity from 9 a.m. August 23 to 1 p.m. August 25 to connect with your peers and your new neighborhood! Explore social justice issues such as houselessness, immigration, environmental justice, civil rights, and more!
