CNSF WRITES LETTER URGING CONFIRMATION HEARING FOR NSF DIRECTOR
A coalition of higher education and research organizations, including Duke University, is urging the Senate HELP Committee to hold a confirmation hearing for James O’Neill, the nominee to lead the National Science Foundation (NSF). The groups emphasized the importance of timely leadership at NSF, which has been operating without a Senate‑confirmed director for more than a year. As the letter notes, “The NSF Director sets the scientific and strategic priorities of the agency… In short, the person occupying this role matters enormously.”
