As an enhancement to GW's time off programs, GW introduced a new vacation time policy for staff* on July 1, 2024. The policy removed the use or lose provision and introduced the requirement where time must be accrued before it can be taken. To ensure continued support for taking time away and to encourage continued vacation planning without interruption, GW also introduced transition time (40 hours for Full Time staff and 20 hours for Part Time staff) on July 1, 2024.
Staff eligible for transition time are those who accrue vacation time and were hired before the new policy began on July 1. Transition time can be used for the same reasons as vacation time and will automatically be deducted in the Time Reporting System (TRS) in advance of a staff member's current vacation time balance when the time off request is approved. As a reminder, transition time is only available through December 31, 2024. Any transition time not used on or before December 31st will be forfeited.
