Payroll Freeze Period for Represented Academics Beginning June 30th

Please note that there will be a payroll freeze for Represented Academics (IX, LX, and RA bargaining units) from June 30, 2025 through July 4, 2025. The freeze only applies to employees in IX (Unit 18), LX (Librarian), and RA (Academic Researchers) titles.Do not make any job changes (merits, promotions, rate changes) during the freeze. You may enter hires, terminations, SWB, and job extensions.

Fiscal Year-End Funding Entry Freeze

The Fiscal Year-End Funding Entry Freeze begins next Friday, June 20, 2025 @ 8:00 am through Friday, June 27, 2025 @ 12:00 pm. Do not approve any Funding Entry during this period, as it may interfere with the FYE rollover processes.

All funding transactions must be locally approved by Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Upcoming Changes to Benefits Eligibility for Rehired Retirees

As a reminder, starting July 1, 2025, UC’s benefits eligibility policy is changing for some retirees who return to UC employment within 26 weeks (6 months) of retirement. UCPath Center has created the Benefits Eligibility for Rehired Retirees training for UCPath transactors and HR Professionals. This course provides a comprehensive overview of the updated eligibility rules, key policies, common scenarios, and best practices to support this population.

The Benefits Eligibility for Rehired Retirees eCourse is now available in the UC Learning Center. You can locate the course using the Search Bar or with this link: https://go.ucsd.edu/43e0h9q.

In addition, the UC Office of the President is hosting a monthly live webinar titled New Benefits Eligibility Rules for Rehired Retirees. The next session is scheduled for Monday, June 23, at 10:00 am. Webinar details are available on UCnet.

Job Record End Date Monitoring

There are currently 7260 employee records and 1134 contingent worker (CWR) records with June 30, 2025 or earlier end dates that are not set to auto-terminate. 

Please run the Jobs With Approaching End Dates Report in Cognos. Extend or terminate Employee records before June 30, 2025, as appropriate. CWR assignments may be extended (UC_EXT_CWR template) or "completed" (UC_COM_CWR template). Read the full communication here.

🚨 Final Direct Retro Deadline Approaching

As a reminder, UCOP is retiring the Direct Retro (DR) tool in UCPath effective July 1, 2025. All Direct Retro transactions that require use of the tool must be completed and approved by the final local approval deadline of June 25, 2025. Read the full communication here.

The following UCPath Center job aids have been updated for the SCT 2 May release, which includes improvements to transaction auto-selection and a new warning message when negative Work Study transactions are selected for processing.
