Important Back to School Forms

If you have not yet done so, ALL families need to submit a Volunteer Personal Automobile FORM.
MEDICAL NEEDS: As well, if your child has any medical or severe allergy needs or daily medication to be administered, a MAT Medication Consent form, and/or a Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan form need to be submitted ASAP.

Back to School Nights

ERB Testing Week for Gr. 3-8, Sept. 30-Oct. 4

A friendly reminder that ERB testing for Grades 3-8 will take place September 30-October 4. More info on this testing will be sent out closer to the test dates.
  • As per our handbook, it may not be possible for students to make up missed achievement tests.
  • If at all possible, we ask that families not schedule out of school appointments between 8 a.m. and noon that week that may require students to miss ERB testing.
As well, 6th and 7th grade students will need to charge their Chromebooks each night and bring them to School every day for testing. 

Middle School SCA: Info Meeting Sept. 10

This year, the Student Community Association (SCA) at St. Michael’s will be expanding its membership to offer leadership opportunities to more Middle School students at St. Michael’s. Instead of engaging in an election process, any student who wishes to dedicate their time and attention towards the needs of the Middle School student community may join SCA.
Students who wish to learn more about the expectations for SCA members and the organization itself should attend the SCA information meeting on SEPTEMBER 10 during Dragons' Hour in the Library.  

6th/7th Grade Challenge Discovery Forms Due ASAP

The 6th and 7th grades will be spending Wednesday, September 18, at Challenge Discovery on the University of Richmond’s campus. 
Please register your child online HERE by Friday, Sept. 13. 
There are TWO required forms: a medical information form and a participant agreement. After completing the participant agreement, a confirmation email will be sent to you. Please keep the confirmation email for your records.

Model UN Info Meeting, Sept 16 (8th Grade Parents/Students)

Model UN is an educational simulation/academic activity in which students learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. MUN involves and teaches participants public speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership skills. Students will attend conferences at the College of William and Mary and Maggie Walker High School. 
A PARENT informational meeting will be held in the Great Hall on Monday, SEPTEMBER 16 from 3:15-3:45 p.m.  
Any 8th grade students who are interested in participating in Model UN are also encouraged to attend!

Lower School Picture Day:  Monday, September 16

School pictures will be ordered online AFTER picture day and the link with ordering instructions will be provided to parents.  All students will have a picture taken for the yearbook even if you’re not planning to order photos. Questions? Please contact Christi McFadden

8th Grade Camping Trip, Sept 18-19

Save the dates for Wednesday and Thursday, September 18-19, for the 8th Grade Camping Trip at the Jamestown 4-H Center!
We will depart at 7:30 a.m. from the old Martin's at Stony Point Shopping Center and arrive back on Thursday at 3:30 p.m., at the same location. A detailed letter and packing list were sent to families this past Thursday.

Hot lunch begins on MONDAY, September 9.

  • The cut-off for placing orders is always 6 p.m. Saturday for the upcoming week.
  • If you miss the window, contact Yay Lunch directly at info@yaylunch.com. Remember, you can schedule lunches up to 4 weeks in advance!
IMPORTANT: Parents’ billing questions, cancellations, technical support, and all other lunch-related questions should go directly to info@yaylunch.com, as Yay Lunch is managing the entire lunch program for the School.

Extended Day Update

Registration for Lower School full year and Middle School fall season Extended Day is NOW CLOSED.
Should you need care, please contact Ashley Buffey, Director of Extended Programs, directly at abuffey@stmschool.net.
DROP-INS: Families in need of a single day of Lower School or Middle School after-school care from time to time may take advantage of a daily rate of $35 to 6 p.m. or $20 to 4:30 p.m. You must submit THIS FORM with advance notice and may request up to 5 days at a time. Thank you.

Early Dismissal Day on Sept. 25

Looking ahead, a reminder that Wednesday, September 25, is a NOON dismissal day.
Need childcare that day? Go Fish! Virginia Outside is offering an afternoon of fishing at local parks for grades 1-5 from noon-3 p.m. on this early dismissal day.  Participants will be picked up at school, transported to fishing spots, and returned to school for pickup. All equipment provided. No experience necessary. Cost is $42. Please register HERE.

Volunteering with the SMPA is a great way to be involved with our St. Michael’s community and is the key to its success! Please fill out THIS FORM and return to your teacher/advisor on your Back to School Night.  

Send in Change of Clothes 

We ask that ALL students in grades K-8 bring in a change of clothes in a ziplock bag to be kept in their lockers or cubbies this year. Thank you! 
**Also, please label all of your child's clothes and belongings with their name so they do not end up in Lost and Found.

Come Race for CHAnge! 

(CHA = Cooper Henry Abbott) 
  • 5K AND a Children's Fun Run
  • Saturday, October 12 at 9 a.m.
  • Plus a "Virtual Run" for those that cannot attend but wish to support the race

St. Michael's is organizing a team to run in the Race for CHAnge to raise funds for pediatric cancer research. This event is in memory of St M student Cooper Henry Abbott who lost his battle to the disease in 2017 at age 9. Bring your kids and your family as we race to bring CHAnge to kids fighting cancer.
Spend a beautiful fall morning in Goochland running through the West Creek Business Park, conveniently located off of 288. The race begins and ends at Kindred Spirit Brewing (parking available on site) and the course will follow scenic West Creek Parkway. 
Last year, we had upwards of 70 St M students and parents--let's see if we can break 100! 

Spiritwear

Show your DRAGON PRIDE with St M Spiritwear!
Visit our spiritwear website HERE to place online orders for St M apparel. From shirts and string bags to belts and hats, we have lots of exciting items!
"Dragon Dress Days" are on "D" days, whereby St M students may wear any above the waist St M apparel items/tees, etc.
We are also getting ready to place a St M belt order. Cost is $25. If interested, please contact Susan Curwood.
